Several years ago, I gave the best gift ever, to a friend for Christmas. For years we had joked about growing old together in Florida.
I worked with this woman in Sears, that did charicatures. I gave her a picture of both of us and told her about our future plans She made a drawing of both of us wearing house dresses, with heaving bosoms, pushing our Publix shopping carts. We both had rhinestone glasses on, socks falling to our ankles, and big shopping bags...the border of the picture had pink flamingo's and bagles. In the back ground, were palm trees and scenery...When I tell you we both laughed till we cried for at least half an hour...It was so outrageously wonderful, and funny....I will never forget it...The pleasure of giving that gift, still resonates with me today, and I giggle.....How about you, what was your best gift, given or received?

I like to randomly send people flowers. For no apparent reason. It really surprises them.
My favorite target was my Grandmother. When she got older and lost her memory she began to think the flowers were from my Grandfather. Who had died was I was ten. He was the love of her life. I never told her they were from me. She had recieved such comfort "going back" to her happy days those last years. I'm so glad I gave her that "gift". She passed away about four years ago.

My greatest gift was from The man upstairs. I found out when I was 18 that I couldn't have children. My husband married me in spite of the fact that he would never be a natural father. When I was 32, I ate my first McRib sandwich, and proceed to loose it in the gutter of a German street. I thought for weeks, I had the flu. It turned out to be a baby. The doctors would shake there heads and say "it isn't possible" and they planned for me to loose it for 7 months. He was born, and that was my greatest gift. He was the perfect gift. At my six weeks check up, I was pregnant again. Soon after, the army was having a two for one sale. My hubby and a buddy went together to fix the problem, because we had enough surprises. To this day, no matter what I give or receive, nothing tops those two surprises.
Luanne, how wonderful for you to have double bundles from Heaven! My greatest gift was two years ago. My husband had extensive tests for prostate cancer. We had to wait two weeks for the results. We learned on Christmas Eve that all was well. Greatest gift; awful two weeks.
I would have to say last Christmas itself was my greatest gift. My mom was released from the hospital 3 days before Christmas, and got to be in her own home, with all her loving family, for the last Christmas she would ever spend with us. I will treasure that memory forever.
The most memorable gift is the one I gave my mother, on her 85th. birthday, last fourth of July. She was a cheerleader in high school, I was & my daughter. I had individual photos of each of us in our uniforms. I had a copy made, of each photo, & had the three matted together & framed. Below each photo was our maiden name & year of graduation.
My mother was soooooooo thrilled! For days, she carried it with her so she could show it to all her friends at the Senior center. It now resides in her living room & she still shows it off to all her visitors, so I know she really appreciated her present. It really is 'the gift that keeps on giving.'
So many wonderful gifts!!! To add my two cents worth. I have to say that my daughter was my best gift ever. I lost her to adoption at birth but 27 years, 6 months and 24 days later I got to hold her in my arms for the first time. Of course the second best gift ever was having Patty come into my life.
