Default Bad teenage girl's punishment!

I read in the paper this morning of a woman in Edmond, Oklahoma who had a teenage girl who was chronically late for school, made poor grades, talked back, etc. She punished the girl by making her stand on a street corner with a cardboard sign around her neck which said:"I don't do my homework and I act up in school, so my parents are preparing me for my future. Will work for food."

Since the incident, her attendance has been perfect and her behavior has improved tremendously.

A passing motorist called the police and reported psychological abuse, which the police filed and reported to Department of Human Services.

Regards,
Thomas

Thomas

I bet that the person who called has never raised their own kids.

Whatever works! More parents should be as concerned, involved and be parents instead of friends!

She was not physically harmed and learned an important lesson. Isn't that what life is all about?

These parents are really creative. I would never think of something like that.

Hat's off to the parents. If this is what it takes to straighten out their daughter, than so be it. More parents need to take a tough love approach instead of blaming others when their kid screws up. Like Lisa stated, be their parent not their friend.

All I can say is Bravo to this mother. Being the proud owner of a 14 year old girl who has suffered from a few bouts of attitude I would never have thought of this as a punishment. However, that being said I may consider it if she starts behaving like this young girl The ironic thing is that the guy or gal who called the police is probably married to someone who is saying "Dang, I wish I'd thought of a punishment that creative and effective!"
