I survived the crazy day at WalMart. I got to work at 3:40 am and there were already about 50 or so people outside waiting to get in. We didn't open until 5:00 am. By then there were hundreds of people. I shopped for a bit and put the stuff I wanted on layaway. Employees were allowed to shop before we opened. At 5:00 when we opened the doors, it was like a stampede. We had a few fights, someone tripped, fell and nearly got trampled and my loss prevention guy thinks he broke his finger breaking up a fight over the laptops. What a great day! We were already over sales when I left at 3:30 pm. The store is totally trashed and nearly everything on our Black Friday special was GONE by 7:00 am. I came home and took a nice nap for about 2 hours. Boy did I need it.
I have to be back at work at 6:30 am Saturday morning and be there at 7:30 am on Sunday morning. But the most important thing is, I SURVIVED ANOTHER BLACK FRIDAY.
Bruce left the house very early for Framingham..Walmart & Circuit City parking lots were filled to the brim..He was in an out of Targets and back home in bed by 7am....The gift was for me, and he already gave it to me...
I saw on tv they had stampedes and fights in Orlando.. I do think, though, what the stores do to make people jump through hoops by limiting the amount and times is stressful, and dangerous...Glad you made it through Cheryl!

Holy cow! I couldn't imagine getting up and out to be at a store at 5am this morning....or any other for that matter! At least you got paid to be there Cheryl!

Cheryl, that is just insane!
I'm glad to say all my shopping is done. Giving gift cards this year.
I can relax in the Florida surf and sand... 8)
Have a nice weekend every one.
Steered clear of all the stores. News reports on our local station reported that people started lining up at a Wal-mart two hours from here at 11:30 the night before. There is no way I would stand outside all night long on a freezing November night in order to be trampled on to get into Wal-mart - now matter how good the deal is. Hypothermia, frostbite and pnuemonia are just not worth it.
Hi Nolou,
Have you read the Nickle and Dimed book? I saw it on the counter where I house clean and right after that they started giving holiday pay.
My SIL who goes to Emerson Univ. had to read it for a class. The kids at that school tend to come from rich families. SIL is there on brains not money(scholarship). They argued in class that nothing will change from that book but SIL could state my own experience when my customer read it.
My Dear, Crazy, Wife introduced our DiL and our other son's GF to Black Friday. Like I posted in another thread, I will never do that again, not without a pistol on each hip and a shotgun. They DID get some good deals but it is not in my blood at all.
