MaryLou mentioned in her final payment post that she loves seeing the impressions newbies have of the ship. I picture myself speechless on my first cruise. I was speechless the first time I was in Vegas and the first time I set foot on European soil, I don't imagine this will be any different.
So what was your first time like? In awe? Sick with happiness? When that big day finally arrives, what was going through your minds?
My first time was with a beautiful temptress named Mercury. She first caught my eye in the bay of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her deep blue color and large size lured me toward her and I knew that I had to go on board.
Once I was onboard I had to explore every part of her from top to bottom and from stem to stern. For seven days she fed me delicious food, lulled me to sleep with a soft gentle motion, took me to places I had never been before, entertained me each night and left me content knowing that my every need would be met. Then after seven days it ended. She returned to Fort Lauderdale to cast her spell on another and I was sent away wanting more.
There have been many others since her but none have left the exact same impression on me that she did. Perhaps that's why I continue to try others in hope of recapturing that same feeling. So far others have come close but none have been exactly the same as the first time.

My first time, was in June, and the ship was the Ecstasy. I drove my family nuts that morning in the motel. "You don't need to finish eating, let's go" When I saw her for the first time, I was in love. She was the prettiest thing. Once we got on board all my troubles went away. I was at peace with the world.
well...My first time hasn't happened yet, and I am still staring at my first, my Conquest, and those lovely words that all adults love to here stream forward through my mouth... "Am I there yet!" "How much Longer!"

We were travelling on the Beeline Xway headed to Port Canaveral. Rounded a bend in the road and there sat the Fantasy. Both my son and I stared for about 10 second, took a deep breath and screamed!
The closer we got, the bigger she got and the more excited we became.
Sailaway was truly magical and I never lost that feeling during the entire cruise. I've loved my other cruises, but nothing was like the first time....
Now, as to that OTHER first time...... ...never mind.....

I remember the first cruise my now-husband, then-boyfriend took me on, 11 years ago. As our shuttle bus arrived at the port, and I saw our ship (the Nordic Empress) for the first time, I was in awe! I had no idea it was THAT big (and by today's standards, it was SMALL!) I couldn't believe I was going to spend 4 days in that giant floating fancy hotel! I can still remember my embarassment, when after our first tasty buffet lunch onboard, I wanted to know where we paid for our meal! I couldn't believe it was included!
Tomorrow, we are off on #7, and it's still wonderous to me each time...
We arrived in Ft Lauderdale at midnight and were taken by cab to Holiday Inn (now something else). I awoke early in the AM to some noise and lights outside. Our room faced the intercoastal and as I peered out the most beautiful sight was there to see.
Crown Princess (the old one) just across the waterway, her beautiful white sleek lines (to this day the prettiest ship I've ever seen), lit up in all her glory and waiting for us to board a few hours later. I was hooked at that moment and hadn't even boarded the ship.
