T'was the Night Before Christmas (CruiseMates style)
T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a computer mouse.
Except Lombard and Jacqueline who were Ping Ponging away,
For where they are, it's already Christmas Day!
James and I were nestled all snug in our bed,
While visions of cruising danced in our heads.
And Kuki in his antlers and Trip in her shoes,
Were lighting Hannukah candles and eating potato latkes too.
When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tripping over the dog and upsetting the cat!
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Gave a lustre of midday to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature cruise ship, filled with CruiseMates so dear.
With a little old captain, so tanned and so brown,
I knew in a moment, it must be BigJohn.
I stood at the window, and James did the same,
I whistled and shouted, and called them by name:
Hello Mary Lou! Hi Luanne! Hi TexasFyre and FastEddie!
Hello BW, beenie weenie, VTJen and Funship Freddie!
Hi RoboCop, Y2C, Sailing Gal, and Hi Tweety,
Hi Phyllbo, PapaBill, CruiseAholic, and Michelle so pretty!
To Cruise Cynic, to Jason, to Thomas and Anne I said Hi!
When the ship lifted off and rose in the sky!
So up to the housetop, the CruiseMates they flew
With a ship full of revellers, and BigJohn too!
And then in a twinkle, I heard up the street,
The trudging in snow, of dozens of feet.
I turned my head, and there up the drive,
Another group of travel-weary CruiseMates had arrived.
They were dressed all in fur from their heads to their feet,
And all of them looking for something to eat.
"Where's the buffet?" they hollered, and I hollered back,
"Get in line all of you, right behind Kim and Jack!"
There was Judy & Keith, DesertCruzer, and Lisa (times 2)
And Theta, Sea Trekker, Larry, Sharon and fllady too.
There was Brenda from Canada and Angela Z,
Lynne & Trevor, Harry & Art, and even Ray B.
And let's not forget Suzie, Sue, Mike M. and Jeanne S.
Tide Pride, Candymaker, Banker and even Venice.
There was Doug and TBug, and so many more,
I lost count of them all as they came through my door!
The Mates on the roof were so cold they were freezing, So down the chimney they came, every one of them sneezing.
I gave them hot chocolate, and 5 minute fudge,
But when it was time to leave, they wouldn't budge.
"We've come all this way, this cold weather we've faced,
And we're in no hurry to get out of this place!"
So out came the rum punch, the Margaritas were blue,
And the CruiseMates they stayed, and partied till 2!
So laying a finger aside of my nose,
The CruiseMates were silent, awaiting my prose.
I sprang on the couch, and gave a loud whistle,
The dog and the cat, ran away like the down of a thistle.
Then the Mates heard me exclaim, with my head full of booze,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a GOOD CRUISE!
donna (who wishes all my CruiseMates friends a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah!)
Wow, that was awesome. I am going to print that and save it. Your a Happy Hannukah if I have been paying attention correctly. I want a potato latke to try. Is rugula a Hannakah treat? My DH got a package from a student and I will put it out for my company who come on the 26 this year.
I just realized I left my computer on last night and it must have looked like I was lurking all night.
Seasons Greetings,
Karen

Very, very well done Donna!!!! I'm impressed beyond words. Cruisemates should post this on their main page and brag about how creative their poster are on the message boards.
Because of your excellent poem I will do something I've never done before and will probably never do again; in your honor........
Regards,
Thomas

Sailing Gal, no I am not a "Happy Hannukah" at all, but definately a "Merry Christmas!" And can you tell me, what is rugula?
Thomas, you made me laugh out loud! I am honoured beyond words.
Donna, What a wonderful gift you have in composing such a work of art. No wonder you spent half the night working on this. It has made our day. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
RD:
You are truly amazing! Your creative talent in this Christmas post is unbelievable.
I have often thought, while reading your Cruise reviews, that CruisMates was missing something by not hiring you and sending you on all types of cruises so that you could write your reviews upon returning.
I must also admit that the writing talent of many of the posters on these boards puts me to shame ( BigJohn, Banker, Thomas, CC, Jason, PapaBill, to name a few ).
I wish for you and your family a most joyous Christmas full of rememberances of your mother.
Peace be unto you !!
Oops. sorry Donna. I must be thinking of another lady on the board. I guess I wasn't paying as much attention as I thought.
Merry Christmas!
I actually spelled it wrong. It is rugala. On the package it is described as a delicious filled pastry made with fresh creamery butter and cream cheese. My box is raspberry but I have had chocolate which IMO is the best. My BIL told me it is a middle eastern treat. My box comes from Brooklyn NY.
I will add a picture of what they look like under rugala in personal photo area.

I see my mistake after reading later additions to the good morning thread. It was Dorothy. At least I got the D names right. Duh!!!

OMG! It wasn't till you posted Mike that I realized with horror that I'd forgotten the most important CruiseMate of all - YOU! If it weren"t for your teachings, Oh Master, I wouldn't be posting anything at all!
So I edited the poem, and added you in, it's the least I could do!!
I am SO embarassed
Donna, This is another great job, done with your usual amazing talent. Thanks for a great smile here on Christmas morning.
