Default Costa Maya

We are on Carnival Liberty on 1-15-06. Was supposed to go to Cozumel, which we love, but are now going to Costa Maya. Any body who has been to CM, would appreciate your opinons and any do's and don'ts......

Thanks

if you go to Destinations, Caribbean, and do a search for Costa maya, you will have better luck. Also, try posting this question in the Carnival thread.

Chawk, there are several threads in the Carnival thread. Read it and you get a lot wiser.

*edit*
look at this website, it gives you an idea how it looks like and what you can do.

Was in Costa Maya instead of Cozumel on 12/20, & loved it. Got some great deals in the shops & did a wonderful shore excursion at Uvero Beach. Beach has free deck chairs, kayaks, paddleboats & an open bar for those who need booze. They also offer parasailing, swimming with dolphins & snorkeling (for various prices), they have a FREE Dolphin demosntration every 90 minutes, can stop on top of the pier as the jump & play close enough to reach out & touch them. Take a camera & have fun.

Chwak,

Costa Maya was one of our most favorite destinations. Look at my review under Carnival Miracle (dorothy) on the readers review section of ship reviews.

We rented a golf cart and drove to Mahahual - lovely little village.

Default Costa Maya

Last there mid October, just prior to Hurricane Wilma. Be sure to go to Mahahual (fishing village on beach) and look for Ricardo's (hope it is still standing after hurricanes). Very nice people, good, inexpensive food and ice cold drinks. Be sure to sign the Guest book. There are some open air shops there and we do buy from them because these people are pretty poverty stricken (see the school house). We also try to buy something from the children and give them tips to help out. The prices here are probably a little higher than the shops in town, but they really do need the money.

It is a beautiful postcard type beach. Don't miss it. In town there is a public pool and an amphitheater with entertainment that is a lot of fun.

Thanks for the input everyone. Still haven't decided which excursion we are going to do, but your positive responses have reassured us somewhat!

Happy Cruising y'all....

Chris
