Default How long does it take to get passport?

Has anyone applied for their passport recently? If so, how long did it take to receive it? My son in-law applied the Friday after Thansgiving and still has not received his passport. I am starting to get a little worried because we sail on February 5. We could just have him use his birth certificate and photo ID, but the birth certificate was sent with the passport application. I guess if it isn't here this week, I will have him send for another birth certificate.

Have him call wherever he sent it, they might be able to give him a time line. It all depends on where it was sent and how busy they are. We live in Florida and had to send to Miami which took almost 2 months to get it back. Good luck.

You can check status on the website. It will say how long or if there is any problems.

It took no more then 6 weeks for mine.

Default How long does it take to get a passpot

If you can track it all the better; I think it took about five weeks to get mine last summer. However my husband says there was a huge volume the end of the year. Good luck and tell us what you find.

Finally, I have the answer. Mailed it December 8 to Pittsburgh. My bank shows the check cleared December 29. Received it today, January 14, 2006. Passport date is January 6, 2006. So, even though they send it by priority mail, it took 8 days from the passport date. And all told, it was 38 days.

Well, I checked the Dept. of State's website and they have no record of his application. We are now less than three weeks from our cruise. We are putting Plan B into action. We will have to get him another birth certificate and have him use that and his driver's license. I find it amusing that we applied at the post office and the application seems to be lost in the mail.

Mary Lou, we applied at our main P.O. and it seems like it only took ab out 5 wks to get ours back. I know it was quicker than what they said.

Hi Mary,
I just recieved my passport friday.
I also applied throu the postoffice and I used the website listed below to track my passport. Like you mine didn't show up when I first tried it even thou it had been weeks.
I called the toll free number that is on the results page and they had the information that it was being processed in houston.

https://passportstatus.state.gov/opss/OPSS_Status_i.asp

1-877-487-2778 is the number I called to get my status.
