Morning all. OK it is DARK but clear as I write this. The Taconic Parkway is about 300 yards through the woods and I can see headlights going by while I'm sitting here.
Both Gram and my daughter Andrea are experiencing some office politics
that have them upset these days. I find it amazing sometimes how people who screw up can deflect their problems onto the very people who are helping them or fixing their screwups. I feel like DR. Phil when I come home listening to everyones problems of the day. I guess that's part of being Papa too , but the kids are so much easier than the adults.
Sabrina is going through a streak of losing stuff. Left a sweater in the movies Saturday, a book in school on Monday and yet another sweater in school yesterday. I keep telling my daughter she is just an absent minded scientist and will save the world someday.
Have a great day everyone.
Papa
Good morning from Orlando where it's also still dark here PapaBill!
I know what you mean about the office politics Papa, as I'm experiencing a bad patch where I work but on the up side I have an interview next week so may be moving on! YAY! I know my husband will also be happy as I think he's tired of listening to me complain!
Angela Z.
I'm in the same boat Bill, but it's really bad since DW has been off for 2 months and she has been hit with all of the problems at once. When she came home from work Monday, she said that the "children" haven't changed a bit. Oh well!
Not much else going on here. Just trying to get through the winter.
Well, I don't have an "office" to have politics in, but I can tell you I am going thru "teen politics" as the teens in my son's social group try to walk thru the minefield that is teen relationships!
Watching them negotiate this dangerous territory makes me thank my lucky stars I don't EVER have to be a teen again....
Have a good one everyone.

Dorothy, I'll take office politics or even real politics over the teen stuff anytime. I had to deal with three teenage daughters and would never ever want to negotiate that minefield again. (Although they all came out the other side of the teen years pretty good).
Papa
Good Morning! Survived the dental appointment, just need a filling repaired. They do want to extract the half tooth that is left after a filling broke, but even the dentist admits it will do no harm to leave it in until it causes trouble. I have opted for that option. The hygenist has a unique way of advertising teeth whitening services. There is a giant poster on the ceiling advertising the Crest prescription whitening strips. You get to stare at it while you are tilted back in the chair.
Everyone have a great day!!!

Another typical winter day. Not much here. Lots to do to get ready to leave and I still haven't gotten into it. Don't know why I am so lethargic about this. I think it is because I feel really uneasy about this trip and I'm not sure exactly why. I don't feel good about leaving the dog or my son. I'm sure it is nothing. Time will tell that is for sure. I do know that time is running out and I best get going.
Doug - I too would have chosen the same option as you.
Trip - I had to laugh when I read your post on the morning thread when I got home from work. I had decided that I was making quiche that morning before I had left and had taken out the cheese and spinach I would need later. I guess great minds do think alike.
Good morning from Detroit. Clear and cold today. Blech... But I don't have long to feel the sun on my face and my toes dipping in the ocean.

Jen, I don't know if you posted or not about it, but where are you going? Hope it's a nice little vacation for you.
Doug, glad you got through the dentist ok.
Dorothy, hang in there. Those teenage years are tough, and from what you've posted in the past, I'd say those kids are very fortunate to have adult like you in their lives.
G'day all from a stunningly beautiful Heart of Dixie this morning... Little cool so far but should warm up to low 50's.
Nothing exciting my way... just work...
I can not remember when I wasn't working. It seems I came into the world this way.
BTW, Doug R, thanks for the tip on the Valentines/ Gift giving thread.
Home Depot is a perfect answer to this problem of a Valentine Day gift.
PapaBill, you need to get some rest man.. Starting this thread is becoming a habit.
Have a good one guys !

Morning All, from a very dull, gray and chilly Montreal. -10C is the temp today with snow flurries on the way. Grumble, grumble.....
Enjoyed my day off yesterday, with a visit to my son's old class with a friend from out-of-town, then a fun and talkative lunch meeting with Delfthuis.
I kinda like the feeling of "playing hooky" from work and being able to do things like have lunch with a friend!
Today will be an extra long one for me, I have to stay after work for our annual Open House and registration for next year, so I will be home late and miss chat. I will also miss LOST, which really upsets me, I hope my son remembers to tape it for me!
Good Morning cruisemates! Yesterday turned out to be a wonderful weather day in Calgary with temps in the 50sF , but a cooling trend to begin this afternoon
All my "labs" came back good from my drs. appt yesterday, so he didn't scream at me too much for my slight weight gain.
It's back to work this morning to see what kind of stuff my "kindergarden staff" get into today
Good morning from Southern California. The big fire rages on, but at least the evacuees got to go back home. Fortunately, we are far enough away from the fire that we don't get ashes, bad air or the stench. It's very dry, though. Humidity is less than 10 percent.
My, my PapaBill, but you get up early
Dorothy, I wouldn't want to go through teendom again, either. But I'd surely like to have a young body
Jen, where are you going on your trip?
DH and I went to our favorite sea food restaurant yesterday in O.C. Today is gym day for Keith. Nothing much else on the slate.
Dh in Chicago for the AutoShow. Cool day in MI, with another 3 inches in the forecast. Which means we will probaby get 6 cause they are always wrong. I have a friend that is going on her first cruise and she is not excited! How sad! Infact she is dreading it! Go figure!
Bye for now,
Tina
OH, I almost forgot!
I POST AND SUPPORT ON THIS SITE AND THE OTHER, AND I'M NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT. NO BIG DEAL
(some folks need to grow up)

**A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.**
Its too cold this morning, someone better tell the powers that be, this is SE Florida not north east! At least we won't be getting snow. We laso have 2 more cold fronts coming thru Thrusday and then again on Sunday. brrrrrrrr Sorry for those who are cruising this weekend, you will have some chilly weatehr, but sunny!
We are in the San Francisco Bay area. We had to make an unexpected trip because Betty's dad is not doing too well. He had some small strokes (TIAs) and has a mild pneumonia and is in the hospital.
It looks like he will be coming home in a day or two but things aren't going to be the same and we'll have to plan on what we'll do from here. I'll see about arranging some home care for awhile to help out my mother-in-law. He isn't totally out of it so that is a plus.
Otherwise it's nice to be out of the house for awhile. I hope everyone is doing well.
Take care,
Mike

Good morning. Houston is chilly, 38F, and clear as clear can be. Still waiting for my ceilings to be repaired. Kuki, glad all is fine with those results. Bill, keep everyone on the path to health again. Later...
