Default What's a poor girl to do?

Lately I have been looking into dating sites. They used to be free but no longer. I was astounded at the price they ask to introduce you to other singles. The worst is they let you JOIN for free. That is where the "free" ends. Once joined they send you notices of this one or that one being interested in your profile. Once you go to check out who is interested you have to pay to get the info. I have seen anything from $19.95 a month to fees of over $200. What's a poor girl to do?? Yikes!!! It is expensive to be single and go looking for friends.

Laura,

My husband and I met on one of those dating sites. The only money I spent was $2.95. If you would like, I can give you some more info on the site we were on. It works!! My husband and I met October 16, 2002, we got engaged August 16, 2003, and got married 2 years from our first date on October 16, 2004. You can find happiness, at a cheap price

Good Luck,
Erin

Hi Eaky!!! I did find a solution to the problem. I have sent you a note telling what I did. I cannot put the answer here because I do not want to violate the TOS. However the solution might provide a lot of fun.

Laura, I have no idea what is wrong with the single folks in this world if someone with a heart as big as yours is having trouble in this area.
The only thing I can think of is that out of the 86 people who actually live in New Hampshire the 11 who live in your area are locked up in the cabin hybernating.

I always admire people who have the courage to try this approach..a very good friend of mine met a guy over the internet on a Christian dating site and in fact married him and moved to the west coast with her two kids

I stick to the old fashion way..force my female friends to introduce (and pre screen) me to someone or go to different services at my church for a few weeks and spot a good looking single woman that consistently does not come with a man, and then ask my friend who is the church announcer to give me the scoop on her

good luck, you know it will happen when you are not looking for it and you'll meet a nice man who just wants to be with a good woman without all the other crap that's out there

Laura..you got that right about New Orleans these days..however it will get better I promise...and you are right to be very very careful because often people are not what they represent themselves to be

it will work out

Venice, Nothing wrong with Texas. It is a great place. My dearest friend lives in Dayton. She asks me to move there. I lived in Lakeland Florida briefly as a young woman. I rather liked the area. Somehow I feel drawn there. I do have a cousin living in that area. My only family here, another cousin is moving to Florida. Possibly Lakeland or "The Villages". My only sister is in Nokomis Florida. I think the draw for me now is to be near family. once my cousin is gone I will be alone here.

Laura

I too live in Houma. Near the Mall. We spend most weekends in NOLA but would spend more time there if there was not this little "work" thing we do. The FQ is in good shape but we did take a ride through the hardest-hit areas and it really is worse than what is seen on the news.

I live less than an hour and a half from you and if I had the ideal life it would be Florida in the winter and Laconia in the summer. We have former neighbors who retired to Lakeland, Fla. and they love it. Good luck in all the areas of your life. It takes guts and fortitude to move on.

Well, I found an email list onYahoo for older singles. I have joined it. Got a great welcome from them. I belong to lots of lists for different subjects. Have made many great friends this way. It is free and fun to chat. I have been busy trying to talk them all into meeting on a cruise!!! I thought it would be fun to be Senior Singles At Sea!! So many singles groups focus on the younger singles. this group is for singles over 30. I did find some space on a ship for a great price for an 8 day cruise.

you know the term "older" will mean different things as we get older (VBG)...when I was coming up 40 was old, now I'm over 50 and I don't feel old

I will agree with you, when you are "older" and single it does present another set of challenges and baggage (from both parties)

Betty where are you living????
Venice, I guess the person who started the Senior Singles group thought 30 was OLD!!! Because the description of th group was "For singles over 30" I giggle when I think of 30 being senior!!

Laura,
There is a site out there for Singles that is rather inexpensive-$19.95 I think for 6 months. I found it by looking for Senior Singles. I know, I know- but once there you can
specify an age range. I met my soon to be wife there, They have a wide audience. Try it you'll like it
Bob
PS I Googled it!!
