Smooth Jazz Fans
Just curious..are there any big fans of today's smooth jazz artist that either shadow or post on these boards ?

I enjoy smooth jazz. Houston has a great station dedicated to it.

Yes, I listen, and enjoy most "smooth jazz", with the exception of Kenny G and the soprano sax. It just gets old after awhile. All the others, I really enjoy.

Smooth Jazz Fan
Venice, I'm a BIG fan that just realized that I can combine my passions for Smooth Jazz and cruising for a week of pure pleasure. We did our first Jazz Cruise this year and will continue to take them every year. Our cruise was hosted by Warren Hill onboard the Zuiderdam. The ship and crew were fantastic and the shows (2-3 a night) were amazing. Being on a sold out ship of 1800 Smooth Jazz fans was also an amazing experience, to know from day 1 that everyone on board had at least the love of the music in common made it fun and real easy to some close friends in a week. From Culbertson to Euge to Kashawa they were fantastic and it was a blast hanging out on the Lido, in the bars and ports with some of my favorite artist. After the first concert we signed up for 2007. There are about 3-4 cruises that I'm aware of but for now we're sticking with Warren's. Mehawk - Culbertson is hosting one out of Galveston in 2007 that should be good.

As you can see a month later and I'm still hyped about the experience. Anytime you want to talk Jazz or Jazz Cruises let me know.

AZ Greg.....Yes!!!!!!!!! I did the Smooth Jazz All Star cruise out of Galveston on the Conquest last year hosted by Rick Braun and next year will be hosted by Brian Culbertson and like Warren's it was AWESOME !!!! I was trying to get a group together to go next year which was the intent of my postings....

we will stay in touch..are you aware that Dave Koz also does a smooth jazz cruise in november on the Oosterdam ?

Warren Hill's line up will be announced on 2/28 and based upon his line up I will try to figure how to do both Warren's and Brian's but funds are tight since I'm going to Venice this fall to do a 6 passenger barge cruise

another smooth jazz fan on CM !!!

Jazz Fan
Venice I like your idea of getting a group of CM members together for the cruise. I posted on the meet on board section last year and didn’t get any responses. Hopefully it will get better now that we have some jazz fans identifying themselves.

We’re Koz fans and catch him in Phoenix, but his cruise is during football season and our son plays college football and we attend all of his games.

We’re also waiting for Warren’s full line up and weighing the option between the 2 cruises. Logistically it would be tough to get off Warren’s on 1/27 and go from FL to TX to make Brian’s on 1/28, so the wife stopped in my tracks on that option. We’re leaning towards Warren’s because 1) it’s a full jazz charter and 2) we really enjoyed the attentive staff and small things they did for passengers on HAL. We’ve heard that the partial charters can create issues with venues for shows (ships vs jazz) and with non-jazz cruise guest sneaking into the jazz shows. If they sign the artist that Warren talked about on the cruise then we will definitely be back and bring some friends with us.

Enjoy Venice this fall and hopefully we’ll see you in Jan. 07 on a jazz cruise.

Do you have any idea of the Galveston dates? My wife would be very excited if I could surprise her with that cruise!

venice February 24th, 2006 06:12 PM

reverendjeff....the cruise is 1/28-2/4..go to their website at to check out the artist and if are interested send me a "pm" e-mail and we can discuss the logsitics

AZ are absolutely correct about some challenges when the ship is partially chartered..due to Katrina and the fall out it wound up that way when the original intent was to be on the Elation..this year, I think they are going full charter with the Elation which will make things easier. I too am anxious to see the line up for Warren's cruise..If it is, as I suspect really good, I'll try to do a back to back if I can put a group together for Brian's and get everyone a discount

I'll keep in touch with both of you and hopefully more will join us..take care smooth jazz fans
