Sure fire remedy

For those of you with the colds and flus...this is an old remedy that has never ever failed me.

1 shot of bourbon or 2 if you are a biggin'
1 lemon
tbl spoon of honey
squeeze all the lemon into a iron skillet(has to be iron)
pour the bourbon in and bring this to a boil then reduce heat.
add honey to blend.
Let cool and then drink it right down.
Now for the secret to make this work.
After drinking the mixture right down, go get in the bed and cover up with lots of covers and DO NOT COME OUT UNTIL you are soaking wet with sweat and your fever(if applicable)is broken. You will feel very weak but the crud will be gone. Promise.

I just had this visual of some poor guy trying to "drink it right up" right out of that big iron skillet! Ouch! That'll hurt the lips!

Also known here in LR as a "Hot Toddy"! It'll cure what ails you, for sure!

The only thing I'd change is DON'T let it cool down. Drink while hot! (Put it in a mug, don't drink out of the skillet, RD!)

And, as BJ said

If it does not work, try it again.

and again... And cover up with LOT'S of covers!

Use as many times as needed!

Actually I take 8 to 10 shots of bourbon and leave the other remedies out. Has no effect on cold or flu but that night and next morning "WHO CARES".

Get up in the morning and if the symptoms continue a "Bloody Mary".
Oh yea, if I can find the toaster will get some bread, nah, screw the bread, more celery please. HIC .. HIC.

Very close to my own version of the sure fire cure. Drink 1/2 bottle of anything 86 proof or higher. It will cure you and if it does not you will not care.(or know).

This brought back a childhood memory. I grew up on a farm and my parents while they weren't teetotalers, they rarely drank alcohol but there was always the bottle of Four Roses whiskey on the top shelf in the kitchen.

One time, when I was around six, my brothers and I had VERY bad colds and my dad made a "concoction" of hot lemonade and a tablespoon of Four Roses. I thought it was vile but it sure did put me to sleep. It was basically a predecessor to Nyquil.

The funny part was the next day our pastor visited and the first thing big mouthed Mike had to tell him was "Dad let me drink whiskey!!!" My mom felt like crawling under the table. He understood perfectly and had the "toddy" given to him and from what I learned in later life still did.
