48 HOuRS - The George Smith disappearance story

Last night I watched 48 HRS presentation of this story.. and for a change, I found they (media) presented a fairly balanced report of the incident.

Sad that this happened, and not sure anyone will know EXACTLY what happened. But it was good to see a bit of a more more balanced look at the events which occurred.

We watched while chatting too..There was also a very interesting article about it in Vanity Fair...The lawyer for the Russsian boys, spoke, really for the first time...they bahaved badly in other situations on board too, according to VF...

One thing I do think, and hope, will come of this, is, if sadly, something of this scope should happen again, the Crew and the Line, as well as witnesses to situations that occur, will react differently..

I just happened to catch that last night while channel surfing. The only one sure thing in this case is that when you are on a cruise ship, you should nevr drink so much that you don't know what you're doing or where you are.
Sounds to me that alcohol, not foul play was the key factor...

A few things I got from this program: I never knew room key cards were recorded as to the time and date each time you enter the cabin. His wife is not on speaking terms with his family probably because she appeared on Oprah and said he had spent another night with another couple; it would explain her behavior toward him (hell hath no wrath, etc.) If he was allegedly drunk and angry because his wife wasn't there he could have been throwing around the furniture and ultimately went off the balcony. Don't know if this will ever be solved.
