Default Cd's, the Good the Bad And the Ugly..you tell us!

I see this mentioned all the time, and I guess in all my cruises I have not encountered a cruise director, that made a difference in how I enjoyed the cruise. The ONLY name I can remember is Ken Rush, we had him twice as a CD on RCI. What I rememeber was he wanted to become a talk show host, and it's obvious he is not in the tv listings.....

So tell us if a CD effects you, one way or the other. What was good, what
was bad, or ugly, and I guess I will find out if I have missed something

I wonder how many times John Heald's name will be mentioned...This guy must be DY-NO-MITE!

Can you imagine being that perky 24/7? Oy Vey

I have not really followed the CDs much.
On our most recent cruise on Liberty the CD was John Heald.
He was most entertaining. I have nothing to guage by so I guess he would be my pick.

Trip, as you said a CD does not make or break a cruise for us.

The only one I remember was Ray Carr on a Panama Canal cruise. He and his crew did some wonderful videos off the ship that were purely entertaining.
He was kind enough to dupe the video that played on the inter active TV for many on the cruise, all we had to do was supply a blank tape which we got in Acapulco.

Trip, I too remember Ken Rush on either Voyager or Explorer a few years back. Since these were such "mega ships" I always felt he had his hands full. It can't be an easy job on any ship. Heard Ken will be CD on Freedom of the Seas; now there's a mega ship!

The only memorable CD for us was Larry Garlutzo on Carnival Legend. Not only was he funny and personable, but he was immensely musically talented, played guitar and sang like a pro!
Most CDs have been OK, some annoying, but basically forgettable.

Trip its so funny you ask this tonight. My parents and my sister decided to join us on the Carnival Legend next March and we were telling them about how entertaining John Heald was. We all ended up sitting around watching the DVD of his welcome aboard show. It was a hoot.
I can honestly say I cannot remember the names of any of the other CD's we've had on our other cruises. I really enjoyed John, and would love to sail with him again, but don't think I would book a specific cruise based on the CD.

What's a CD? Actually, I always plan excursions ahead and look at the Capers to decide what to do on the ship.

I have only been cruising for a year, so I can still remember all our CD's.

Rebecca Llewelyn Ecstasy

Todd Wittner Conquest

Jorge Solano Elation

We enjoyed all of the above. I don't think a CD can make or break a cruise, but if they are entertaining, then I think it can add to what is already a good cruise.

I have to say Mark Price went over the top to make my cruise on the Glory memorable. He went out of his way to see that Patty had a good tme too. He presented her with a medal of the ship and a coveted "ship on a stick" Patty nearly swooned when he gave her a kiss on the cheek one day. He really made an impression on her. It was the first cruise I ever remember actually meeting the CD.

He was absolutely the funniest person I had ever seen. He even made all those dull meetings funny.

Luanne, did Jorge do the last show on the ship where the staff gets together on the stage and come out one by one in different costumes and sing what they wanted to do in life and wear the costume that signifys their desired careers? It was on after the talent show.

I don't remember that one, but his "get off the ship" talk was soo funny. He had me in stitches. I had never heard of a CD that was so funny. It is sad that he will now be in Florida. Hope to one day be on his ship again.

Hi Michael,

That's the "If I Was (Were) Not Upon a Ship" skit. We've seen it on every cruise and it's really funny. I think it's based on a skit done on the old Dick Van Dyke show? It's one of the few things we try not to miss.

To keep on topic, I don't remember any of the CD's names on any of our cruises. They really don't make much difference in our cruises. That said, from what I've read here I'd really like to see John Heald or Mark Price.
