Need good thoughts for my son and his kidney stone
Just got home from working at Walmart and found my son doubled over in pain from a kidney stone. He has been doing really good lately so we knew it was just a matter of time before he got another one moving around. The bad news is, he needs to be at work at 5:00 am tomorrow. The good news is, one less stone in his kidneys. The medication, Urocit, they put him on to prevent new stones is working. He just needs to get rid of the dozen or so that are already in his kidneys.
Thanks for your good thoughts.

Been there and done that.....kidney stone thing.....and don't wish that pain on anyone!!!!! Hopefully he can take the day off and take some strong pain meds if the stone hasn't passed by morning.......better living through chemistry (at times) is my motto!!

Thanks everyone. Well, I always knew he was a strong kid. He slept okay during the night and got up to go to work. When I suggested he stay home, he said "I'd rather go to work and try to forget about the pain, then sit at home and think about it." He called me a few minutes ago and said he was feeling okay. We'll see if it last at work until 2:00 pm.
Looks like his younger sister will be "babysitting" him this weekend. Tony and I have convention for the Knights of Columbus from Friday until Sunday. Luckily it is in Burlington, MA which is only about 35 minutes away.
Oh Cheryl I will throw a prayer in for him each evening!!! I do hope he is able to get this cleard up soon. I myself have not had a stone, but know people that have........NO FUN : ( Please send him my well wishes for a speedy recovery and he will be in my thoughts!

When i first saw your thread my first thought was oh no not again, that poor young man! Glad to hear that the meds are working and that there is an end in sight. DH suffers from those nasty little buggers, not nearly as bad as your DS. Give him a big group hug from CruiseMates!
Cheryl, I hope that his urologist has prescribed some pain medicine for him to use during the attacks. I always have an Rx of Percocet (oxycodone) in my medicine cabinet for emergencies. Of course, the best way to get that darned stone moving through the ureter is to drink lots of water. But I'm pretty sure your son knows that already. Best of luck to him!
Jack--his urologist gave him a prescription for Vicodin. They work great but my son doesn't like taking drugs. (boy am I lucky and happy about that) This is what probably made him such a tough kid.
