Default Good news and bad news

Yesterday I made the seven hour drive to visit my Aunt Louise on her 96th birthday. She's in pretty good health, except for her knees and back and it was a joy to see her in such good spirits. She does puzzels all the time and I think that's what keeps her sharp.

But last Friday I got the word I'm no longer going on the May 30 Century cruise. The ship has undergone a $55 million renovation and still has work to be done so Celebrity is kicking off the picky, tell-all journalists but taking regular passengers.

Well, that's not good! Don't they think "regular" passengers will say what what with the ship?

It's wonderful that you could spend time with your Aunt.

Now that the press folks have been so poorly treated I wonder if there are some deals available. I don't think Betty has anything for my birthday.

That is to bad. The Cruise of the Century folks were probably hoping for a review.

Anne.. you may have got lucky actually. I had been hearing rumors that the ship wouldn't be ready and may not sail at all on that date.
If it does sail, with work still being done, there'll be some pretty whiny passengers onboard.

Just hope Celeb makes it up, and gets you on for a scouting mission when she is complete.

GREAT news about your aunt though! That is TOO COOL!

I try to warn people against taking a cruise right after a major refurbishment, those coming out of dry dock and new ships. Work is frequently incomplete. I am disappointed however.

Anne> Your avatar is so much cooler than Paul's or Kuki's (although they are both furrier and seem almost real at times). It's even neater than mine. How do I get my pizza toppings to drip?

Regarding getting the pizza toppings to drip, I suggest putting it in the microwave.

Anne - sorry that you won't get on the Century right away.....but are you going to be able to get on her before the rest of us do in December?

I have lots of dates to choose from, although I'm leaning towards the October transatlantic repositioning cruise.

So nice you were able to visit with your Aunt, great!

I'd opt for the transatlantic one, I think! Amuses me that they think the press will give them too much coverage or something, haven't they read the boards and see what people whine about???

I took the ssNorway back from England to Miami in 1984 and we had a whole major group of workers onboard because they didn't finish what they needed to do before our scheduled crossing. It was interesting to see the French and Norwegians trying to work together!

Hoping you get onboard!

Anne, glad you had a good visit, but waah on the canceled cruise. ... I tell ya, if I lived in or near NY, those transatlantics would be quite enticing.
