CRUISE DOCS IN HAND -- DOC DANCING GOING ON !!!!!!!
Our TA gave us a pre-cruise dinner last night, and handed our the CRUISE DOCS and related info.
Only a few "glitches". My wife had my middle name as her middle name on her E-Docs and I had her MAIDEN name as my middle name on my E-Docs.
Went to the NCL site to fill out the Advanced Registration Form and got mine and printed it off, but cannot get them to accept her (mis-configuered name ????? Our TA said to try again tomorrow and if I still couldn't get them to accept her name he would call them and get it straightened out.
It hit us last night that we will be in HAWAII in 18 days. WHAT A DEAL, WHAT A DEAL. Can't get much better than that.
My DW has been "packing" for the last two weeks. Now, she has decided she has put way to many chothes, shoes etc. aside and has started to "cull" the overage. I was running out of clothes to wear to work and everyday wear !!!
She hasn't checked this site out, and hasn't "gleened" all the good info. all of you have given us FIRST TIME CRUISERS.
You have no idea how much I have appreciated reading the posts, getting info. and learning what it is like to CRUISE. I know all the other first-timers appreciate all of you also.
Life is too short to let the ship of your dreams sail without you.

In my opinion, Hawaii is one of the best cruising regions on earth and NCL delivers a fabulous cruise, at least in terms of itineraries. I've been to Tahiti and liked Hawaii better and spending so much time in port (including two overnight stays) is simply divine.
I ran into two savvy fellow-passengers who said they got the best deal on Hawaii souvenirs at Costco, so take your card along if you're a member.
Here's the real story on Hawaii coffee, told to me by the Hotel Manager of POA: it's the same price in Hawaii than it is in New York because it's taken to Chicago to be roasted!! So, save your money.
The only cute items I found were at the small mall that is part of the Honolulu ship passenger terminal. Everything else is Hawaiian shirts and t-shirts.

dina, we deffinitly are a-dancin. When we get this name thing straightened out, we will be jitterbuggin.
Anne, thanks for the info. on Costco and the coffee. We had planned to purchase coffee to bring home, but might as well save that space in the suitcase to bring something else back.
LisaK, our TA is going to call today to get the name thing straightened out. The names are correct on our tickets, but the names are messed up on the eDocs. If I don't get my DW's straightened out, guess I could just go by myself......naw, you would be reading my name in the obits. colume of the newspaper.
Trip, thanks again for your post.
Since this will be our first cruise, I checked out all the sites I could
locate on the net, and I want you ALL to know, this is the BEST SITE and has the THE NICEST (and informative ) PEOPLE of ANY that I visited. You are so concerned for everyone that posts. I want you to know that I appreciate every answer to my questions and replys to my posts. took me forever to finally "gut-up" ane post a question. Didn't want to get laughed at. But you all made me feel as if I had known you forever.
When we return, you will have to inform me of where to print "my report" concerning our cruise. I read sssooooo many bad reports about the Pride of Aloha. Hopefully I can print a very good one.
Didn't mean to ramble on so.
From here in Central Texas, Thanks again for all your help.

Forgot something. I read in another post concerning wattage of hair dryers. Something about blowing the fuses on board if the wattage is too high. My DW's hair dryer is 1875w, with a low and high setting. The other post failed to mention what the max. wattage could be before blowing the fuse. Does anyone know what the max. would be ???
I have been to Hawaii and I agree with Anne. If you are looking for t-shirts you will find the EXACT same shirts you see in the t-shirt shops at Costco and Wal-Mart at 1/4 to 1/2 the price. Costco also has many authentic souvenirs. You may buy em at Costco or Wal-Mart but you still got em in Hawaii.
Also: The ship will have a hair dryer so you can get by without packing one. The circuit will "probably" handle pulling 1875 watts but that is quite a load on one circuit.
I hope you have a wonderful time and don't miss Kauai. It's my favorite island. Waimea canyon and a helicopter trip or Zodiac trip to the Napali coast is well worth it.
Take care,
Mike

i have an 1875 Watt travel hair dryer that i have had no problem using on a cruise ship. The hairdryers on the ship are not very powerful and if you have thick, long, coarse or curly hair they will take forever to dry your hair and you could burn out the hairdryer(this has happened!

Thank you all for your congrats, answering questions and keeping us first-timers on track. Couldn't have made it without you. As I have posted before, this site has the BEST people.
My TA called Norwegian about not being able to get the pre-registration for my DW done on-line. Their suggestion was to fax a copy. Did that this afternoon, got confirmation that they received it, so hopefully that problem is solved. There were three others from our group that had the same problem and they had to fax a copy.
Hopefully we may be on the same cruise one of these days, and we can meet and relate our adventures to each other.
Thanks again for all your help, and smooth sailing.
