Hi everyone. I'm Cheryl (47, turning 48 on July 21st) and my husband is Tony (49). We live in Massachusetts. We have been married for 22 years. We have two children--a son 21 and a daughter 19. They both attend the University of Tampa. We also have a 19 lb. cat named Soccer,
I will be retiring from the family daycare business after 17 years of doing this on August 18th. I also work as a customer service manager at my local WalMart. I am in the process of finding full time job to replace the daycare, although a brief retirement sounds nice too. Tony works at a plumbing/heating wholesale company.
As you can tell my signature, I am a bit obsessed, okay alot obsessed with the Red Sox.
I'm Michelle and DH is Mark. We live in Orlando, Florida. I used to post a lot more often, but my job as a system test engineer has recently become very time-consuming and demanding and I don't have much time anymore. DH is a job-seeker.
We're not cruising until the Cruise of the Century in December. I can't wait!
Hello, I'm Frank (75) and DW Susan will be 71 in December. We have been retired since 1994 and married 51 years. We have four children David (44), Diane (42), Darin (40) and Deena (38). There are 7 grandchildren ranging in ages from 14 to 2 1/2 years old. Of the 7, two are twins.

Hi, Im Stephanie & dh is Gary... married 19 years, have a 16 yo ds ! We currently live in West Texas, but are always thinking of changing locales... we are waiting for the locale to pick us... lol !! DH works from home, so we can be just about anywhere... we dont want state income taxes though, so that shortens our list to 7 states.
Have only been on 1 cruise, ds HATED it !!! So, we will have to gag & bind him if we ever plan on him joining us again !!
Hello! My name is Renee and Hubby is Chris. We are mid 40's, and we live in Baytown, Texas, 18 miles east of Houston. We have been married 26 years in September. We have two "birth" sons, 23 and 21, and Jack and Joey who are 3, our Boston Terriers. We also have a parakeete named Snowflake! Our first cruise was for our twentieth anniversary-a couple years late! From then on we have been hooked. I am in Personnel with a school district in Baytown and Chris is with ExxonMobil. We live off of Galveston Bay and love water sports, probably why we love to cruise!

Hi, we are Peggy and Paul from San Antonio, Texas. We have been married for 46 years, and our anniversary each year comes just four days before Christmas. We have two children and only one grandchild.
We have been on 22 cruises since 1993 and have two more booked. I like to mess around on the internet, particularly the Cruise Gripes section and the chat room. On occasion, I put one of my verses about the sea and cruising on chit chat.
Hi We're Carolin and Klaus from Troy, Michigan. We just had our 20th wedding anniversary. No kids.
We took our first cruise for our 20th anniversary and I can't figure out why we waited so long. HAHAHA
Paul B - I have tons of relatives in San Antonio. LOVE the river walk.

We have been on 5 cruises together, with our 6th coming up in November...a Panama Canal cruise on Celebrity, from San Juan to LA. Gary had been on one cruise previously, also a Panama Canal, on Princess. My first cruise was in French Polynesia for our honeymoon and I was hooked forever!

Bill & Jeannine from Moncton, New Brunswick. Will be celebrating 45th wedding anniversary in Sept. Three children and 7 grand-children who we see, at the very least, once a week.
Tried retiring a couple years ago for a couple of months but decided I enjoyed working. I buy used equipment, have it refurbished and try to sell at a profit. Jeannine retired some 10 years ago and enjoys retirement.
Discovered cruising late in life, we've been on 4 cruises, all in the Carribean and loved every minute of it.
Next year, we're thinking about going to Australia (not on a cruise) for 4 weeks. If it doesn't work out, we'll probably go on a cruise.
Last month, I met CruiseMates' most famous member and her husband, RollerDonna. Found it interesting meeting someone, face to face, from this board.
Hi, I'm Ida and my dh Mike. We live in Northern IN. We just moved last year from our home of 30yrs into the city, and are now in a condo. Mike retired from truck driving and is now a Home Design salesmans, pt time. I'v own and managed my own hair salon 20 yrs now. We have 2 grown married children, a 2 yr granddaughter and one due in Sept.
We first cruised for our 25th anni., and have number 8 planned for Jan.
We introduced our kids to cruising 2 yrs ago, spent time in beautiful Coszumel, before the storme. Our granddaughter was only 8 months old on the first one, we still show her the pictures and talk of it. This new baby will be 4 months on her first cruise with many more to come. I tell them I am the travel G'ma.
I'm Deb, DH is Mark. We will celebrate our 25th anniv 8/15. I'm an RN in the city & Mark is in sales for Conductix in OMA, we live in Iowa. We have 1 daughter & she is married & lives around the corner from us. No grandbabies yet but we do inquire every now & then! They do have a little miniature pom named Millie & she is just as cute as a bugs ear so that will have to do for now. We love to travel & love the outdoors. Mark is an avid bowhunter (deer & turkey) & also competes with his bow. We both love to go out on the boat & fish. I love to scrapbook & after our daughter moved out I made her entire room into a scrapbooking room. Mark says we could buy a new house with all the scrapbooking stuff that is in there (not true) I also love to cook & bake. I usually enter baked & canned goods in the county fair but this year since we just got back from AK, the fair had to get skipped this year.
Hello,I'm James and married 47 years to a very wonderful lady named Joyce. We reside on a small farm in Southern Missouri. Both are retired.Very new to crusing, enjoying it so much I'm afraid it's become habit forming.
I'm Shar (pronounced share) and have been married to Capt Ron for almost 15 years. I am a secretary working for the Navy and Ron is a computer scientist/network security specialist, also working for the Navy. We're getting ready for our 10th cruise, leaving behind four dogs with our pet sitter. We have two yellow lab mixes, one mixed with a golden retriever and the other with a red queensland heeler. The other two are a cocker spaniel and a cairn terror (not mispelled). We have three children, Cassi, who works for the Columbia Gorge Hotel in Portland Oregon; our son - Alex, who just got a job here after being out of college for a year; and Ariel, who is in her junior year at San Diego State, going for a nursing degree.
We live in a beautiful valley in the upper Mojave desert, right next to the Sierra Nevada mountains. We're three hours north of Los Angeles and two hours west of Death Valley.
Hi I am Luanne, hubby Jim, and two teen sons. We live in Central Texas very near Fort Hood. We have been with the military all our adult lives. We discovered cruising last summer, and have taken a total of 4 all together.
I am a teacher. Hubby is.... well you know We have four dogs, Peanut, Maggie, Molly, and Katie.
I love Cruisemates. I left for awhile thinking there was something better, but came back, when I realized this was the best.
I'm Karen and dh is Dave. We've been married 16 years, the 2nd for both of us. I have 2 sons and 1 daughter, 8 grandkids. They all are the love of my life. We live on the north shore of Lake Superior, just north of Duluth, MN. I have lived here most of my life. I use to work at a savings & loan until we were downsized. I was off work for about a year and then went to work at a well drilling company. After 10 years there I decided it was time to quit and do the things in life that I didn't have time for while working. My dh works at a manufacturing plant. I also take care of my 94 year old mother who still lives on her own. Right now my life is pretty much centered on her. She also is the love of my life. It's nice that I can do for her rather than her doing for me.
Dave & I discovered cruising in 1999. I had always wanted to take a cruise but I was so paranoid of flying I just couldn't make myself. I then decided I would book our first cruise and pay the consequences. For 3 months I hardly slept for the fear of flying. I asked myself, "why did I do this?" Lo and behold after our cruise I knew I had to take the risk again and again. Now I am hooked on cruising and flying. I finally overcame my worst fear.
I hope that some day I will be able to meet some of the cruisemates here.
Hi I'm Kathleen, 41 single parent of a teenaged daughter, age 14.
I work as a Traffic and Distribution Analyst for Canada's largest newspaper, the Toronto Star. I live in Mississauga, which is a suburb of Toronto (Ontario).
My name is Alvin and my partner of 17 years this October is Terry. We live in Atlanta, Ga, and have one dog Tonto - the silly black lab.
My mother loves to cruise and has pass the love on to me. I am working on my partner at this time. Actually he loves it, but his line of work does not allow for a lot of planning ahad. So.....I go on some with him, and on some with my parents, and some with him and my parents. Fun, all the time.
I also love the cruise boards, and am alwaway lurking in silent mode. I started posting latly and I love it!

Our son Brett has a boy and a girl and our son Scott and his wife have two dogs and three cats.
We took our first cruise to Hawaii this June (Thanks to all the people on this site for their info on cruising). and have signed up for an Alaskan cruise next June......Guess you could say WE ARE HOOKED !!!!!!!!
Pam, from Henderson, Kentucky. Husband - Mark - and I had our first cruise in Feb, 2000, and are looking forward to cruise #9 in the spring.
We are in our early 50's, love cruising. I took early retirement from my job as a purchasing agent with coal industry, and Mark works in mgmt for the coal industry. We also enjoy golf, and traveling in the U.S.
We have one son, and a beautiful grandaughter ( and we do spoil her).
This is such a wonderful cruise website, and everyone is always helpful.
I'm Darlene and DH is Don, living in Alvin, TX (25 mi. south of Houston). I work at a college as an administrative assistant and he works as a machinist at BP Texas City. We were on a cruise when it exploded in March of '05. Very scary since he knew that his crew would have been working in the area of the plant where the explotion occurred. We have 1 son, a wonderful daughter-in-law, and precious grandaughter, Emilie, 2 1/2 years old.
Plan on introducing my grandaughter to cruising in a couple of months. The rest of the familiy is already addicted.

Hi Henry! I am glad you pulled this old thread out of the archives. It's interesting to walk down memory lane and see that so many of these folks still post around here regularly.
I had to laugh when I read your post. I used to date a guy many years ago in Phoenix that was a Telecom Engineer, but he was not an introvert at all, and he felt really good about sharing himself (with everybody), also his name wasn't Henry. So you can relax, I don't think it was you, Rofl!
Hi, I'm Robin and my DH is Victor. We have one son who will be 14 in a few days.We have been married 25 years. We live in Chicago. We have to cats Dasher & Blitzen. We love to vacation. I'm the only one who will cruise. So we take alot of land vacations.

Paul's love of cruising is born in a most inauspicious way.
</B> Sitting in his lonely studio apartment, suffering the pangs of a sorely broken heart, he wonders how his life could have gone so astray. He thought everything in life was coming his way, but he was actually just in the wrong lane. Suddenly, with perfect crystal clarity, a brilliant light penetrates the muddled fog of his existence. It has the sound of angelic voices eminating from within.
It is the TV set -- playing reruns from the original 1970s series, "The Love Boat."
His obsession starts innocently enough. Merrill Stubing? ...the wisdom of Soloman. Doc and Isaac? ...lovable buffoons. Cruise Director Julie? ...ohhh, wait a minute. She's different. A guileless ingenue with the courage of her convictions. Paul can't tear himself away, he's learning what women really want. The Love Boat! The Love Boat! Soon will be making another run -- da dee dee dum da!
The Love Boat becomes a life study for Paul, every episode ending in a happy romantic glow. He even purchases one of those brand new fabulously expensive VCRs back when the only movies available are of an adult nature. Paul pretends to like that fare for appearance sake, but he secretly uses the VCR to tape "The Love Boat."
Two years later, now living in Hollywood (California, not the East Coast version) and working as a recording engineer for a Grammy winning recording studio, Paul is surprised by a new client, a cruise line looking to record the sound track for their onboard shows. Over the next few weeks he gets to know these people, Royal Viking Line, and they are really great. He hasn't heard of the line, but he certainly can't get enough of their stories. Finally, after a month he pops the question, "How much do I have to pay you to get a job on a cruise ship?" and to his great and stupifying surprise they offer him an interview as a stage manager. Paul flies to San Francisco on a lark, never expecting to get the job, walks into the office of the head of the entertainment department and confidently shakes like a leaf.
Royal Viking Line gave Paul the job on the spot, and he still doesn't know how or why that happened, but he does know that in 7 weeks he was setting sail for Tahiti aboard the finest cruise line in the world. During the next year he sailed three quarters of the way around the world, from the South Pacific to the Arctic Circle in Norway. It is the greatest experience of his life. Sadly, Paul meanders to the beat of a different drummer for the next 10 years, but his love of cruising never leaves him.
The time: 1993 The place: Salt Lake City
Paul sees a flyer for auditions for entertainers for a company called Jean Ann Ryan Productions out of Florida. They are looking for dancers and (aha!) stage techs for the SS Norway. He dials their number and once again they hire him on the spot - over the phone! Paul logs another year on the high seas, three months with Norwegian Cruise Lines and then a switch to Holland America for eight straight months. He travels all the way from Alaska to Italy.
The time: 1994
The place: New York City
How a west coast kid like Paul ends up in New York City is long story, but after his stint with Holland America he moves directly to the East Village. Paul begins writing for an Internet and AOL financial site called Motley Fool where he served as the resident expert on Internet and technology stocks. In 1997, in an AOL message board, he meets Anne Campbell innocently enough, neither of them knowing how much they have in common. A simple comment about Alaskan salmon started the watershed of discovery. Two cruise veterans living in New York, writing professionally for AOL-related Internet sites! The number of things they had in common boggles the mind.
Today, Paul is living in Arizona and is somewhat recently married (as of October 25, 2004) to his high school sweetheart, Lou Ann. Well, actually they would have been sweethearts had they known each other back in high school, but actually they "met" at their 30-year high school class reunion and exchanged vows on the two-year anniversary of their first date.
Paul is the Captain of the CruiseMates Website - we lovingly refer to him as the "Entreprenerd."

Hello All, I am Mike and DW is Carole we live in Nor Cal in a small town called Foster City, about twenty miles south of San Francisco. We have two grown children Lorraine (32) and Erik (30) Our son Erik is getting married this year so that is a very large part of our plans for the year. I worked for Beckman Coulter a biotech company in Palo Alto until August 2008. Now retired I work in the garden , golf a little I guess you could call it that, and plan cruises. Carole has her own business (graphic design) that keeps her quite busy. I was a little concerned about this retirement business, but I am getting very good at doing nothing. Take care all, Mike

We are in the process of purchasing a retirement home in Patzcuaro, Mexico. Patzcuaro is a very old colonial village about 40 minutes from Morelia, Mexico. It's about four hours by car from Mexico City and the same distance from Guadalajara. It's also 3.5 hours from Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo at the coast.
We have an adorable miniature dachshund, 9 1/2 years of age, named "Knock-Knock," who is much more clever than either of us. (Or at least he thinks so...) We also have a Cockateel that is 12 years old and drives us crazy with his eternal conversations, tune cruning, and whistling. O.M.G. But we love him anyway. His name is "Mijo" (Meeho) and he is actually quite sweet.
We have hopes of moving to Mexico permanantly in the near future. There are no cruises in our near future due to the pending move. We've been on roughly 30 cruises each.
