Default Motion sickness help

I dont know if this has been posted before but I thought some might find it informative or might give it a try on their next cruise. There is no better place to test out a motion sickness theory than with cruise folks.

Im a fan of the show Mythbusters and one of the shows dealt with motion sickness. I watched the show a while back and its slipped from my memory for a while.

They tried over the counter stuff, magnetic wristbands etc and the only thing that seemed to offer some relief (without being zonked ie OTC stuff) was ginger pills. Description of said episode found here. http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2005/11/e...s_cures_f.html

Im going to try and remember so take some along next time even though it rarely bothers me any more.

Thought some might find it interesting.

Did they do the other wristbands, the one that use pressure points?
I swear by them!

I'd been on two cruises without them, back in the early 90s, and got very seasick the first night out. Both times I took medication that knocked me out.

In more recent days I've used the wristbands and I've not had a single moment of seasickness!
Believe me, I was skeptical and had some meds handy as a backup.
I thought the whole premise was silly ... but they worked!

My daughter's fiance was with us on a cruise last year and he got seasick the first night out. I gave him a set of wristbands and he was fine.
I take mine off the second day of the cruise -- he did the same. And he got sick! He put them back on and was fine.
*~* It's a jungle out there kiddies! Have a very fruitful day.*~*

My preference is candied ginger. You can buy it in any spice aisle. I take a bunch and put it in a zip lock bag to carry with me. Ginger does settle the stomach, but it's also a blood thinner, so people need to be aware of that. If I'm going for a small boat trip (eg whale watching) I also take a Bonine tablet before the event. If it's gonna be real rough - I'll wear wrist bands too. You can never be too safe!
