Default Passport to get to San Juan??

I just had a scarey thought....... I'm leaving out of San Juan for my cruise in September. Do I need a passport to get into San Juan?? I thought since it was a US Territory I would be fine, but now I've got myself freaking out. We were planning on getting them, but time got passed us. Will I be able to fly from Chicago to San Juan without a passport???????

Thanks In Advance!!!
Erin

Erin:

At this time you do not need a passport to go to San Juan. Just bring your birth certificate and government issued, picture, ID. (Drivers license)

When you return, get the passport!!!

Take care,
Mike

PHEW!!!!!! Thanks Mike, I actually turned white when I thought of it. We had planned on getting them, but had some issues, and wasn't able to. I promise to get it when I return.

According to the U.S. Department of State and Homeland Security, the passport rules affecting travel to the Caribbean does not apply to U.S. residents visiting Puerto Rico. However, you will need to have proof of citizenship if you go to the other islands and come back into US.
