Default Smoking Banned From Marriott Properties

I was just perusing hotels again for NY Eve to checkout the rates, and thought I would post this, so if you book, you will know...

All Marriott Brand hotels in North America will become 100 percent smoke free beginning in September 2006 with the full policy taking effect October 16, 2006. Guests will be able to smoke if desired in designated areas outside the building.

This means we will not be booking any Marriott, because Hubby still smokes This would make me happy..We once booked Amerisuites, and when we got off on the smoking floor, even my husband said the odor was incredible. We are booked there again for the Century cruise...

Marriott is one of our favorits. I think it's great that both Marriott and Westin have done this, but I don't see how they can enforce it, especially in the rooms.

Part of the agreement (that no one reads) you sign is that additional charges will be made to your credit card if there is evidence that you have smoked in your room.

Take care,
Mike

we're rented time shares that have the same language--if there is evidence of smoking you will be charged the $$ to have everything cleaned and the traces of smoke removed

Due to a major problem with a Marriott desk clerk in Toronto years ago, I continue to refuse to patronize said establishments.

Too bad, because we don't smoke.
