Default Does Anyone Have a Spare St Joseph Statue?

Our house has been on market two months; no bites. We have lowered price $30K and still haven't had a showing in two weeks. I guess it is time to call out the big guns. Does anyone have a spare St Joseph statue? How about a place to buy one?

thanks,

Marc:
There is actually a website that sells them! Just type in St. Joseph home seller kit. It really does work!

Coming from you Marc it does surprise me. This is so stupid, a statue doesn't do anything besides make the person that sells this superstition item rich. How silly. Show me this in scripture!

I'd go for it, too! Although they had a long piece about the housing market on GMA this a.m. and prospects aren't great.

I went to a dinner theater the other night because my friend in real estate didn't have any new customers to take so she had a group of friends and family going.

Good luck, things are really slowing down.

I did it with 2 homes and it definitely worked. You can buy them at Catholic Church gift stores. And, you must bury him upside down!

Marc,

The "bookstore" at Glastonbury Abbey in Hingham, Massachusetts, has inexpensive St. Joseph statues for sale. If you can't find them on the web site call them at (781) 749-2155.

Norm.

I bet there are at least 10,000 statues of every size and description for sale here at St. Joseph's Oratory gift shop in Montreal....

You want I should light a candle for you? It's either two buck or three bucks, I don't remember..... My MIL is overdue for a pilgrimage.

Marc,

I too used this statue when we sold our home in TN. Two weeks to the day after "planting" it, and putting it on the market, we had a full price offer. I'm sure it has something to do with the focused prayer. Good luck. I don't think it is stupid at all. Whatever works.

Please show some respect for other's beliefs even if they are at odds with yours. This is not the time or the place for it.

This is definitely a down turn in realestate. Do whatever you think and we'll all pray for it to happen. Good luck!

See what a great site this is. I just did my own research, and this is a whole new thing for me.

I know who Joseph is, and I know what he did, but I can't find anything about him being buried upside down. Can someone fill me in on that part. The kit says you can order it with the book, statue, and also be listed on the Internet. Wow, nice houses!!

I have a friend who fills me in on all things Catholic, and when I e-mailed him asking about St Joseph, he e-mailed back, and said "Now what are you reading"

Marc, I do wish you luck on selling your house. Won't you be back in a couple of years. Could you list it as a rental, and then one day use it as a home again?

I've heard it *works* for lots of people!
I don't see anything wrong with it.
My sister is a real estate agent and she and her co-workers have faith in those statues!

I don't see it as anything worse than praying to St. Anthony to help find something lost.

I'm Irish Catholic, born and raised in the Boston area, and I know we always had good relationships with the saints!

Probably, but she thumped her Bible quite loudly, which is done quite often by those who question Catholic beliefs and traditions. In this case I believe that the practice of burying a St Joseph statue upside down to help sell your house is not an officially sanctioned practice. By the way, we found one buried in one of our flower beds after we moved in 3 years ago.

worked for us! We sold a not inexpensive home during a serious economic downturn and a massive layoff at the major employer in the area. Go for it! Our lives are filled with traditions and superstitions and all of that is what makes each of us unique.

Doug,

Given the circumstances, I think your comment was appropriate.

I agree that it's probably not officially sanctioned by the Church. But, my CCD-teaching MIL (who gave us our statue as a gift--it came with the instructions on how to bury it and she bought it at a Catholic supply store) it's supposed to be tied-in with the fact that St. Joseph was a carpenter.

I suggest burying your real estate agent in the back yard, head down, and see how long before your house sells.

Either the agency will buy it, if you threaten to do so, or you'll have a new address and a simple orange jump suit to wear.

In regard to the statue: I don't put too much stock in it. Price, staging, location, market, marketing and the right person at the right time are what go into selling a house.

Take care,
Mike

Love your suggestions, and possibly at the new address he will get a choice of either orange jumpsuit or white jacket; and even better, the new address might have padded rooms.
