We're off tomorrow morning to San Francisco. We'll be going to the "Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival" at speedway meadows in Golden Gate Park, SFO, California. It's only an hour and a half flight from P.D.X. There are five concert stages and over 60 bands over three days. The headliner tomorrow is Elvis Costello.
We went last year and it was an amazing event. (Think Woodstock goes bluegrass and Adult Alternative.) The concert is totally free and very well run. The concert is paid for by Warren Hellman and usually costs him about 2 million dollars, because of the high level of talent. This is his gift to the city. The hard part is picking which stage to attend. Some of my favorites are on stage at the same time. Ugh!
If anybody lives near SFO, you should check out the website. Just do a google search "Hardly Strictly Bluegrass" and see the amazing line-up.
