Default Greetings From Tokyo

Just arrived a few hours ago; trying to get situated. Going out to dinner soon. This trip is only for a week but it is my first time here so I am just trying to learn my way around.

It is a beautiful city; very clean and modern. We are going out to the suburbs for a picnic tomorrow which will be my first experience with trains and subway.

I won't make it into chat this week as it starts at 10:00am here.

See you all on my return!!

Hey Marc. Have a great time and take it easy! You've got plenty of time in the future to see ALL the sights, so relax and enjoy this week over there. I wish Vita and I could join you! Haven't been there for a very long time. Enjoy.

Glad to hear that you arrived safely. A week won't hardly give you time to adjust to the jet-lag. Bring back lots of "first impressions" for those of us who have not been there. Have fun!

Today was a joint Japanase US military picnic at a recreation area outside of the city. Two trains and a subway to get there and the same on the return along with long walks on each end. Japanese definitely stay away from weight problems with all the walking and the stairs. At Shinjuku station, where over 2,000,000 passengers pass through each day, we had a small problem when our "guide" took us up two staircases that we didn't have to go up; thus down two extra staircases, too. All in all, a wonderful day.

Wednesday is the day that I get to start looking at apartments. It will be real interesting to see what $6,000 per month buys.

Jodi, probably no pictures this trip except of apartments. Once we get over here for good, I will try to post pictures of Japan sights.

Wow - what a journey. I hope you find what you need for an apartment as well as start to learn your way around abit.

I'm sure there is just so many things to think about right now. I can't even imagine.

Marc.. enjoy the adventure. I think for $1,000,000 you can join a nice golf club

Marc--So Glad you are there safely and reporting back to us. We just got back from our short 3 dayer for our Grand Daughter Wedding. It was on the Sov of Seas. Ship is getting a little ragged but nice anyway. Rooms are too small.

Take your time and select a safe area for an apartment. Life in Japan is not bad at all.

Keep in touch.

Ray & Helen

Marc,

I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. It is a different but exciting world in Japan. If your new employment can handle the Tokyo sticker shock it should be a wonderful time for you and your wife. Then again mid-town Manhattan can give many folks housing shock.

I haven't been there in over 10 years but I did enjoy it, especially once I got out to the Japanese countryside.

Take care,
Mike
