Default New NCL commercial

Have you all seen the new NCL commercial for Free Style cruising? The one where they show everyone doing exactly the same thing at the same time on other cruiselines? I have to admit it would get my attention if I had never cruised before. If you never cruised, it surely could turn you off other lines.
It is good marketing on NCL's part.

Some friends of ours that are not cruisers saw the commercial and then asked us: "What do you think about that NEW cruise line that does things so differently?"

I had seen the advertisement and had to reply to our friends that it actually was NOT a new cruise line at all, just an advertising promotion.
It did get their attention and made them think NCL was a better product than the others. If only it were true.[/u]

Actually I do believe it is much more than just a new advertising promotion.

NCL is relauncing the brand, and within a very short time is going to have the youngest fleet of ships of any cruise line. Their goal is to extend the "Freestyle" theme to cover almost all aspects of their cruise experience.... attempting to make a "freestyle cruise" more of a lifestyle onboard.

I actually think they are being one of the most innovative cruise lines around at the moment, with the concept of freestyle, as well as their NCL America division.

Whether they can get to the point of being "better than the others" I don't know. But they most certainly are making NCL unique in comparison to the other cruise lines.

I hadn't taken an NCL cruise until this past May, but when I finally took the plunge on the Dawn, it became obvious how good the product could be.... and NCL seems determined to achieve that goal.

Lots of changes taking place quite constantly now, and more on each new ship they build.

This is one of the main reasons we chose the NCL Jewel for CruiseMates group to the Greek Islands in the spring.

As for the ads, I think they are very interesting, and actually directed more to the past cruisers, who've tired somewhat of the "traditional cruise experience, than to first time cruisers.

Many years ago NCL was my absolute favorite,,,,great ships, great service, and just a great overall experience. We kind of drifted away (pardon the pun) from NCL over the last few years, but have sailed the line again recently. I agree with Kuki that they are absolutely on their way back. We really, really enjoyed our last few cruises on NCL.
I haven't seen the new commercials, but look forward to them, as well as our next NCL cruise.

I believe you are able to see the commercials at NCL's website: www.ncl.com
Check it out.

Never cruised NCL but the commercial diffinitely gets my attention. It's one of those "catchy" ones that grabs your attention and you remember it. That says a lot in this age of sensory overload.

Rollerdonna, click on the heading that says "experience free style cruising", that opens another page, then on that page there is a link that says "see the tv commercial." I had not seen the commercial either. It is very good. Maybe next time I'll try NCL. I like the idea of not having a set dinning time.

I do not like the commercial at all. It is the equivalent of the political attack ads that are unfortunately the norm in the US now. It reinforces the incorrect stereotype that cruising is regimented and every moment of the day is dictated to you. I think it does more damage to the industry than is gained by helping its own bottom line.

A question: Was the pool shown at the end part of the villas? They sure had some nice lounge chairs. Also, it wasn't too crowded.

Marc,
Yes, it is like the new Crown Princess with the time frame of 8:30-12:30- 15 bucks and then an afternoon time. It is called the stanuary spa with no kids and the lounges similar to the Ritz.
Shall be on her next month- Will NOT pay the 15 bucks- have a suite to enjoy the peace and quiet in the aft of the ship.
cheers,
Jan

Actually the pools and sun deck for the Courtyard Villas, and Garden Villas are not available to anyone other than those staying in those suite. There's no charge for them, but also no access.

Here's a link the photo gallery of them on the NCL Dawn
http://www.cruisemates.com/gallery/view.php?id=2839

By the main public pool there are also quite a number of "plush" luxurious sun loungers as well, though there's also the "standard" loungers as well.
