Default Has Anyone Tried Google Earth???

Awesome!! You feel like you are flying to anywhere you want to go. Just type in the address and off you go. So cool!!!

you must have been reading my mind (once you get through the vast amount of garbarge, there is some useful info).

I have been doing the Google earth thing for awhile now, I am hooked. You all should google the ports of call and see if you can identify the ships in port, arriving to port, etc.

Yesterday, we were googling for whales - couldn't find any. .

I use to do it all the time, until I googled my house, and saw our truck in the driveway that we traded 3 years ago. I guess it is a little out dated.

it is my understanding that certain areas are updated more often than others. when I googled my house, I wasn't home , but it was from the year we had all the hurricane's cause I could tell all the neighbors windows were boarded up..

I agree about the update. Whe I tried it, it showed my truck that I had back in 2001 at that house that I lived in then, and my house in the Woodlands was not built yet and my sister's hause was not built yet.

Yep, it's really a cool site. Fly out to Pearl Harbor and take a look at the ships there. The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) even found her house, and the school she attended in Sicily. How cool is that?

Google Earth has a feature that shows a history of dates the photos were taken. Ours are updated frequently. The more populated areas seem to have the most updates.

I was spending too much time with it (it's worse than Solitare) so I had to quit. I now use Google Local for maps and satellite. No software to install.

I looked at Kuki's neighborhood a while back but couldn't make out the moose, not even a BPOE lodge.

I went there, but I can't figure out how to "google" my house. I have a feeling that you could certainly see the glow from my neighbour's house even from space!!

Google earth is great. I was using it to look at how convenient various apartments are in Tokyo. I also use it to determine walking paths. It is not very good for determining driving directions as it doesn't show one way streets.

you may have to install the Google Earth portion; then you will get an icon (a little blue earth) warning: Google Earth appears to be a memory or processor hog as it does slow down other programs, when I am using it. ONce you click on the Earth icon, there should be a search box to the left of the screen and just type in address or place (some places it will go to by name.)

googlemaps.com uses less memory and you don't have to install anything. Those photos are sometimes 5 years old. The google earth I thought was supposed to be live.

google earth is not live, they have a section where you can see what areas have been updated when; the last updates were Oct 3, 2006 (unless some were just done in the last week or so) in fact the last update including areas of FLorida; no "blue" roofs.. Where there is more growth, more updates.
DTW is right googlemaps uses way less memory, but it isn't as fun as google earth.
