Default It's Saturday!!!

Good Morning All,

Sunny, bright, and much warmer. It's already 25 out.

Yesterday we were spared the freezing rain portion of the storm. For that I'm thankful, the wind has really made drifting a problem. I had to drive in about the worst part of it to see the doctor, it was a rough drive.

The appointment was even rougher. My doctor won't clear me for surgery. He says he can't until I have a normal thyroid reading. I don't know that that is possible with him managing my medicine. In the past two years I have only had two normal readings. To say I'm disappointed is not even close to how I'm feeling. I'm very close to dispair. Now I have two surgeries that I have to have, with no idea how long a normal thyroid reading will come around.

I really question that. If he was truly concerned about my thyroid wouldn't he want me to be regulated for more than just one reading - say a reading in the normal range every month for at least 3 months, to know I was truly regulated. I almost feel like since he wasn't the referring physician, my dentist was, that this is his way of controlling the situation.
My jaw might be able to put it off for a couple of more months - tho' that blows all my planning right to $*(&. I refuse to give up my trip to Tenn. to see daughter preform. She would be too disappointed, this is a one time thing. Mentally I just don't know how I'll make it. And the thought of redoing all the things that they did to get everything in perfect alignment for two weeks will have to be redone if it goes beyond that, because you can't keep it in line that long without things moving.

Ijust don't know what to do. I wish we had an endrocrinologist near by, but the closest one is two hours away, along with the rest of my specialists. I'm exhausted with this, have had tightness of the chest ever since I found out. I know I need to get a handle on this. Yikes. How truly I need a vacation - beach or sea, I need a mental break.

I hope the rest of you are having a much better weekend. Anyone have anything fun planned?

Jen,

Do what you need to in order to get your health in order. If it means going two, three or one hundred and seventy two hours away, do it. Nothing is more important!

If that means giving up a vacation or slowing down, for a bit, then you have to. I've been there and am there and know what it takes in order to do what you have to in order to make YOU feel better. If you don't you won't be any good to anyone.

Doctors are not gods and there are doctors who know more than others about specific disorders. Listen to what they say but YOU are the one that makes the final decision in your treatment. If what they are telling you doesn't make sense then find one that is more specialized in your problem and get in to see that person. Take the bull by the horns and control your own health and don't let it control you. In the end you may find a solution or may find that the original prognosis and treatment regimen was correct but at least you explored all options.

I don't mean to preach but if you don't take care of yourself, the stress and the inability to do what it takes to help with your situation will only make things worse.

BTW: Travel costs are tax deductible.

Take care of yourself and I do wish you the best!!!!
Mike

Now I say: Good morning:

The snow is gone, the sun is out and my wife has decided to dump her hotel room and return to the man she loves. She moved in with some guy named Lance.

No: Betty is home. We had about 18" of snow and A LOT of blowing and drifting. My neighbor plowed our driveway six times in 36 hours. I shoveled over 10 times and had to retrieve Kramer once when he got stuck in a drift. "Yellow Dogs Can't Jump" will be the name of his life story.

My son has given up the contract life and will begin the "corporate" world on Monday. He is now the Senior IT Security Administrator for a large bank system in the Minneapolis area. He will use his knowledge for good instead of evil. If you have horses on your bank account you're in trouble.

Otherwise: It looks like it will be a quiet day. Betty will have to go back to work this afternoon. There was a bit of problems caused by the weather down south so she will have to go in because some banks were down on Thursday and Friday and they need to catch up on processing. So that leaves Kramer and I, again on our own.

Take care,
Mike

Good morning Jen, Mike and those to follow.

Work at bank day. Busy as usual.

Heading to the home show in Boston after work with Tony. Looking for decorating ideas for the kitchen. Still haven't heard from my painter. I called and left him a message that if I didn't hear from him by next Wednesday, I would find someone else to do the job. See what happens.

Jen--I agree with everything Mike says. No driving time is to far when it comes to your health. We need you healthy.

Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend.

VTJen, everything Mike said goes from me too! Good advice, hope you will take it and make your life easier and healthier. We need you around here!
If you have to drive all the way to Montreal to see a specialist, you can stay at my house overnight. We'll have a great "girl's night"!

I cannot believe my eyes this morning. The temperature reading says 1C!!
No minuses, negatives, or whatever you call it, just 1 ABOVE!! It's been a long time since we've been ABOVE zero! It's also very bright white out there today. Like Mike, we got over a foot and a half of snow, with lots of drifting as well. Like Kramer, Emma can barely walk in the backyard, I'll have to shovel her a path. It's very late in the season for this much snow, but it sure is pretty!

No plans for the day, just go out and enjoy the weather. 8)

Good Morning from Central Texas where it is very cool, but sunny, so we should warm up later.

I came home from work yesterday, so tired, I barely knew my name. I fixed of all things breakfast, and then laid down. Woke up at 9:00 last night, stayed up until 11:00, and just now waking up.

Jim has been sending me e-mails every day, with pictures, and songs attached. The picture has the days left before he comes home, and the songs are sweet love songs. This morning I clicked on the newest one, and it was him sitting on his bed, holding the Teddy bear I got him for Valentines. The song................ Shook me all night long AC/DC
The computer was up loud, my son is on the couch outside my bedroom asleep(still sick) and I couldn't turn the computer down fast enough because I was still asleep. I get the impression that Jim is not going to want to sit down and eat cookies and milk once he gets home. If you know the song, you will understand better.

My house looks like a storm came through here. The mail is stacked up, I need to go to the store. Yuk.....

Jen I am worried about you. If you need to talk, e-mail me, honey.

Mike you and Kramer are a hoot.

Love to all of you on this beautiful day.

Stay safe!!

Luanne

Default It's Saturday

Good morning from Southern California. No snow here. Temps in the 80's. I fully expect to have lunch on the restaurant's patio in Pasadena today. Anybody have an Il Fornaio in their area?

L.A. Marathon starts tomorrow morning. I hear that the warm temps aren't in their favor. But it certainly won't be in the 80's when they run at 7:30 a.m. I dunno . . .

Mike and Kramer, you ARE a hoot!

VtJen, please, please go whereever you need to go to get expertise. If you need to talk with one of us, I am sure any of us will be willing to help however we can, even if it's nothing more than talk. But Mike is right; it's YOU who will have to become proactive. If it means gettting on an airplane, then get on an airplane.

Everyone, have a good Saturday.

Judy

Good Morning cruisemates! Chinook winds blowing across the Rocky Mountains and into Calgary driving temps up... low 50s F today, edging close to 60 in the next couple of days.

Have to begin getting my parents financial info in shape to turn over to the accountants for tax preparation. Then dinner with friends this evening.

Spent this week getting hotels and some private tours set up for the "It's All Greek to Me" cruise, and it's shaping up to be a truly wonderful adventure.

'course, have our Panama Canal cruise the end of this month to prepare for first

Good afternoon from hot and humid Florida. Maybe it's a good thing that the sun isn't out adding to the heat.

Jen, I agree with Mike also. Please think over his advice and take care of yourself.

Kuki---I want to go on the Panama Canal cruise too. Is it to late to book that one, and why didn't you invite me? ;-)

Mornin'....Oops! Looks like it is afternoon now. Had to go to the MD's office for some blood work, so DW and I went out for breakfast. The restaurant was very busy, so it took longer than expected. After getting home and reading the paper, and doing a few errands, I finally got down to the 'puter. Then I had to read up on the Buffalo Bills news, so it's turned into afternoon before I could check in with my 'mates.

We were very lucky with the weather yesterday. After the rain went through, it warmed up to 50F! Now we have mush all over from the melted snow.

Got a few more errands to do before I can watch the Syracuse game on TV, so.....

Have a great day!

Ed
