1000 Places To See Before You Die

Based on the book, of the same name, this is a series on the Travel Chanel, you will love.

This lucky couple, I don't know how they were selected, spent a 5 month all expenses paid trip, touring these 1000 places, on a 5 month journey.

The first show set the tone, for all of us armchair travlers. They were in the lake Como area, and Venice.

On Murano Island they showed a master glass artisan, blow a unicorn, in a matter of minutes! What a thrill to see him! They went down the canals on a gondola, and watched them being handcrafted, and, also the wonderful masks of Venice, being handmade. So much tradition & history here.

They flew a water plane into Lake Como, to be dropped off at their hotel, and took a boat tour around the surrounding lake towns. Gorgeous!

This a a series, that will take you away, for an hour anyway, from our daily hassles, and capture your imagination of distant places. I adored it, and I want more!

Trip you are soooo scaring me, we must watch the Travel Channel at the same time. .
As the advertisement for this program came on, the boyfriend tried to change the channel so I wouldn't catch it - he's a little worried that I will drag him to all 1000 places (only 994 to go LMAO) - unfortunately I haven't caught a full episode yet.

Linda, they are only going to see approximately 100 of the 1,000 locations over 14 weeks. Still, I wish we got Travel Channel over here.

I know one of them is The Baths in Tortola and I'm going to be there Thursday... Seen then before and I have to agree, a place not to be missed...

I, too, am enjoying the show on the Travel Channel. That is one lucky couple to have the chance to experience these wonderful places. I did look up the book expecting to see a hard back coffee table book. The only I can find is the paperback. That was a bit disappointing to me.....if anyone has read this book, please let me know the quality of the photos in the paperback version.

This inspires me to get the book, check out our score, and maybe get inspired to go see some of the ones we've missed. There must be two or three we haven't been to.

Mary Lou, don't get the book for the photos. They are just small black and white photos. You need to get the book to figure out where and when to travel. It is fantastic. We have post it flags throughout the book; for both those places we want to go and those that we have already been to.

Our next trip will be a two week Norwegian Fjords cruise leaving from Copenhagen. We will pick up a number of items on the list in both Denmark and Norway. We then have a weekend in Guam (nothing on the list), a trip to Europe via US (first round the world flight and may see one or two from the book), and then two week cruise to Western Japan, Korea, and China, where we will pick up many items from the book. All of this by mid-October.

I believe the Travel Channel just had an episode of said show in which the RCI lines had a cruise ship in the Alaska bays. It was magnificient.
