Mike, two totally different situations so hard to compare.
I spent 20 years in California and almost 20 years on the East Coast (the rest of the time in Colorado and Chicago). Both East and West had their good points.
Actually, you are probably thinking about another East vs. West.
We love Tokyo. Of course, the company gives us a cost of living adjustment so that we can afford a nice apartment in Central Tokyo and we also get use of all the Military facilities so it is nice. We do not drive and take only public transportation or walk. In Florida, we always had to drive.
