Default Do you get deals when you book while on board?

Dh and I are going on a cruise in July (Carnival). We are also planning another cruise for January, with friends. My question in, should I wait to book this other one, and book while on board? Will I get a better deal? If there is no advantages, we will just book at a later date. I thought I read about deals while on board.

Any info you all have would be great! Like I said, this is on Carnival.

Unless something has changed recently I don't recall any Carnival ships having "future cruise consultants" onboard to even allow that option.

Princess, and now Holland America allow you to put down a redued deposit onboard, and choose your actual cruise later.

RCI and Celebrity, offer shipboard credits, when you book your next onboard, but you have to specifiy your sailing.

The answer is yes and No.
If you are planning to book in the near future, like within 3 months it is a good dea. but if not, wait til see what your plans work out at a later date.
We have tried both and like to wait and see.

This has changed recently. RCI now allows you to put down a $250pp deposit to be used on any future sailing without picking a specific sailing and you still get the onboard credit. The deposit is non-transferable and has no expiration date. I'm not sure if this goes for celebrity as well, but I suspect if RCI is doing it now, Celebrity is as well.

Thanks Everyone. I suppose I should have said that we know the date we are sailing in January as well. I guess the worse thing could happen is I book while on the ship, and maybe there will be a deal, or maybe not. Thanks everyone for the info!
