Default indoor pool

I have an indoor pool at my house, just like I always wanted ...but it is only 5 inches...my basement flooded with the rains from today and yesterday. I know what I am doing to night. pumping it out

Sounds like you need to have a party and invite all your friends over. Christen the pool and then take a turn on the pump!

I'll bring the rum for the foo foo drinks.

Theta, hope nothing of importance got damaged.

Luckily, so far, we are relatively dry. A very small amount of water came in the basement on the unfinished side. This usually happens in heavy rains so it's not a surprise.

Theta, I hear ya! Our sump pump has been going non-stop since Sunday.
So far, so good, but if we lose power, we're in trouble!

Sorry - I know how not fun that is from prior experience.

How are things, today? Along the Gulf Coast we don't have basements, but we know about flooding. I hope everyone is drying out, a little.

Melissa:

The same thing happened to us. About ten years ago the sump pump twisted and the fitting on the sump pump broke it's intake and outake connections and it's electrical connection. All this occured during a 14" rainstorm and when we were in San Francisco. We returned to a flooded basement. Luckily the breaker tripped on the sump basket connection or we would have been electrocuted when we stepped into the water, as the electrical connection was hanging in the water.

I now have two sump pumps, on seperate circuits. I should have done that to begin with, since I had two sump baskets but we never before had a water problem. It was all because of new landscaping we had done that changed the flow of water in the yard. Since then we have water in the sump basket every Spring and after heavy rains.

Cleaning up such a mess is no fun and I wish you the best.

Take care,
Mike
