Talk about a pair of boneheads... my husband was at a summit sponsored by Microsoft all last week in Redmond Washington. He came back with lots of nifty trinkets and stuff he scored while he was there. One of the neat gifts he recieved was a wooden boomerang. When we got home, he and I went outside and tried throwing it. I nearly broke a window. It seemed to behave more like a frisby than a boomerang. We even let our neighbor, the former baseball standout, have a few throws and it landed atop his barn, eventually sliding off and hitting the ground, but at no time did it ever return to the the person that threw it. We drew the conclusion the thing was defective and our 6 year old son wanted to play with it, so we let him have it.
He goes of to the far end of the yard and takes it and throws it the very first time, well of course it flies through the air with the greatest of ease only to return to bean my poor little guy right in the forehead. within seconds he was laying on the ground screaming in pain. I runover to find out how bad the injury is to see a major goose egg developing before my eyes.
So of course, off we go to the Emergency Room 30 minutes away. On the way d/s scared the daylights acting somewhat dazed and confused, I was driving him in d/h's car when he asked me when did I get that sunroof put in my car (we weren't in my car!)?
So anyhow he was released and we were told to wake him up every two hours and keep an eye out for unusual behavior but alas, he survived and all was well. The doctor told d/s to expect to have two black eyes the next day, which didn't happen. He was disappointed to say the least
OMG! Strange how the adults couldn't get it to perform properly and when your son operated it, it performed perfectly (with the exception of him grabbing it before it whacked him ). Finicky toys.

No more boomerangs for this family!
I'm glad to hear that your son is okay.
I know that it does not seem funny now, but this incident will have you in stitches when you retell it in a year or two....
