Teens and Cruising

I just read the article on the home page by Alex Gaynor about what teens would like to see on cruise ships. The rollercoaster is a bit far fetched in my opinion...but, who knows! The thing I found most interesting was the suggestion that cruise ships should have onboard school for extended cruises. I wonder how well received this concept would really be?

Mary Lou, I know on the Regent Seven Seas World Cruise that people have brought tutors for their kids. After all, just because you are on a cruise for four months doesn't mean that you can take that time out of school.

Ya.. that's definitely something the "average" parent would consider.
Did the tutor get their own suite with butler?

For the slightly less affluent there is the Semester At Sea... but again not something mass market.

I think Semester at Sea is a different concept than just your average family taking an extended cruise and the kids attending school while onboard. I know my kids would have a tough time being on a "family vacation" and then having to attend classes while onboard. However, I think they would love Semester at Sea since it is designed for just that. Everyone onboard is there for the same reason....to attend class and receive college credits. No parents around the corner.
