Default Smuggling

Somebody posted proof of their smuggling. As a mature adult who has a career of protecting people from themselves and others, I have to say that this posting of theirs is very immature and is a terrible example to those who aren't mature enough to consume adult beverages.

Shame on you!!

Dang it! I missed that very offensive post. So fill me in... how'd they do it? and more importantly did they get away with it !!!

Honestly though, as I get older I find the old bod just can't handle the alcohol. It sometimes takes days to feel like myself again after having just one too many glasses of red wine and with only a couple of exceptions, it just isn't worth getting poop faced. Plus I have to admit that I have successfully smuggled a few bottles of wine, but I really don't see why I did it, because half the time, most of it remained undrunk at the end of the cruise. So why not save myself hauling the stuff through the airport and just forget about it.

I think half the fun is just trying to get away with...makes me feel like I am a bad girl.

Beenie,

You are so right! I brought almost all of it back home with me....and I'm desperately trying to finish it off right now! I did it, got away with it....I'm done! No more smuggling for me, my man will have to pay the tab!

Michael.....you mean you will accept contraband?

smuggles beware the security is on to you. In Ensenada a late teens girl went to board the ship with a big bottle of water. security stopped her asked her age and shook her water bottle. It seems booze makes tiny bubbles and water makes big bubbles so they can tell by looking. By the way the girl only had water in the bottle.

CC, these are young men (?) who laid their booty out for the world to see and it is an influence on older children and shows how to get away with it. I have no problem with the fact that they smuggled the stuff onboard, in fact, I have done that myself. My problem is their showing kids how they did it.

I hate to break this to you Mehawk. The kids already know how to do it. You should read the teen thread sometimes. Him posting pictures just helps the cruiseline look for things they hadn't thought of. I would never reveal my smuggling secrets because then they are secrets anymore. older children should be monitored by thier parents. It's not my job to be sure your kid doesn't drink on a cruiseship that is your job!

Kat, we need to leave the teen board alone, remember Effie the dinosaur?

But she is right, I just returned from a senior cruise. NONE of the kids in our group were old enough to drink on the ship. Heck, I have the voyage DVD and it shows these kids with drinks in their hands BEFORE embarkation. :o Believe me, they had it figured out. I'm pretty sure they behaved responsibly while they drank illegally, but then again........WHO KNOWS!

Ah.. shouldn't that be the parents, or adult escorts who know. But then so many abdicate that duty when they cross the gangway.

This is one of the reasons some cruise lines have put curfews in place for those under 18.

Hey, the guy drinks Captain Morgan -- he can't be all bad.......... 8)

Interesting how this was on NCL, though -- you'd expect that kind of thing on Carnival.

I'm sorry -- I just have this mental image of Carnival, and I can't get it out of my mind!

I was just on Carnival I love drunk karaoke. I even got two drunk male backup dancers were I sang "Hey, Big Spender." They were fun!!! Besides you don't need to seek in booze just order a coconut monkey cause that is a serious drink.

I know you aren't including me in this group because I was responsible for one 18 year old, my own......and I did keep tabs on her. PLUS it doesn't matter how close you watch kids, they can still get around.....You can't be everywhere all the time............unless you're GOD.

Dean, I was just on Carnival and we really did have a good time. If a few of you yankees would get your butts off your shoulders and get rid of a few of the "airs" you put on, you might have a good time too!

Now, back to the original post......I believe that guy is an Aggie! Who else would know how to pack beers on his belt and look confident wearing a dress!

Default Smuggling

I've never smuggled contraband anything aboard a cruise ship. But "pooped Faced?" I love it! And you're so right about getting that way! It's an awful way to feel!

Mean Dean,
One of the wildest, most out of control cruises I have ever been on with regard to underage drinking was a spring break cruise on the NCL Spirit out of NYC.
The worst thing I have encountered on a Carnival Ship with underage drinking was in the wee hours one morning on the Liberty a small pack of drunken youth were trying to sing loudly as they walked down the hallway. I stuck my head out of the door and told them to shut their little portholes and go to bed, which the did. Problem solved.
On NCL security just basically let them run amock. The only person I saw dealing wirh the amatuers on the Spirit was the Maitre D when he went toe to toe with some young twit who refused to change out of his shorts for dinner and this guy was not going to back down. Luckily the Maitre D was a very formidable opponent who knew how to hold his ground. I really think this Maitre D has a bright future in security with NCL.

I've thought about the smuggling thing, and I think I would smuggle if I went on the Cruisemates Freedom cruise....that's a two week thing!

i have never been on a cruise so the whole smuggling thing is new to me. now if the drinks are priced decently then there would be no reason to smuggle anything on board. i also am a firm believer in curtailing underage drinking. however a 20 year is different then a 15 year old. i believe that the parents should be keeping an eye out and stay aware not shadow every step. neither the parents nor the kids would have fun. but alcohol poisioning is very common when teenagers are drinking. especially hard alcohol. this is too often fatal. just know where your kids are, who they are with and keeping tabs on whats up is usually enough. they might sneak a drink or two but may think twice before drinking to excess knowing that their folks are paying attention and will disclipline if necessary.
