Default Please Indulge Me

I began the task of moving drawers and weeding out what can be thrown away, and sort of in conjunction, with Venice's post about just how nice this website is..please indulge me, for a moment.

In about 3 and 1/2 weeks it will be my 5th anniversary with a bout with breast cancer. It was my 2nd, and this time, & I was to need extreme surgery. While in the hospital, I received cards and flowers from my pals from Cruisemates. As I was cleaning, I found them, and read the kind words. An unexpected complication made my stay, a bit longer. The calls to my husband from our Cruisemate pals helped Bruce, get through the nights alone. A call from Ray to me in the hospital cheered me up big time:)

Another find were pictures from, the very first Creamsicle Bash we ever had, back in 98..Kuki Simi,[from CC] and myself, singing around the mike, having a ball! This was the very first meeting of a large group fo chatters, back in 1998. The internet made it happen.

Then I came upon a hand created thank you from Kuki's son Jon. A bunch of us had been invited to attend his BarMitvah in Calgary. This was a wonderful celebration of friends, literally going the distance for one another.

My waxing nostalgic, just reinforces, how true friends can be made from across the miles. Cruisemates is the catalyst for all these wonderful moments. In good times, and bad times, I find myself being thankful, for the friendships made. Thanks for listening:)

Memories are free, make us feel fuzzy inside, and no one can take them from us.

Thanks for telling us Linda

Linda, I thought you were going to ask us if you should finally throw away all those cards and souvenirs!
Thanks for sharing those warm fuzzy memories. I still have all the postcards and greetings that CruiseMates sent my mom for her 75th (and last) birthday
in 2005. She may not have understood who all those people were, but it sure cheered me up knowing I was not alone at a difficult time.
Aren't CruiseMates wonderful people?

Your lovely post reminded me once again of all the support I received from CruiseMates when Keith was so sick. It does make this site so very special.

Venice

I also received a tremendous amount of support when Jim was in Iraq. It is things like this that make this more than just a cruise site.

Linda, I haven't been on CruiseMates long, but I have made friends here that I know I can count on. When I have needed a shoulder to cry on, prayer, or just to vent, they are there. Even though I have only met one person face-to-face, there are so many that I consider dear friends.

Luanne is right, this is more than just a cruise site!

Linda, This is a place full of wonderful people. The prayers, the good thoughts and the good wishes all come when we are in need. There is a feeling here that people really care.I When I was fighting to keep Patty with me the support was there and sooooooo appreciated. Recently in my move to Florida the support was there, I knew it, I felt it. Being alone in the world I might never have made the move without the support of my cruising friends. Meeting the Cruisemates that sailed on the "Glory B" cruise was a highlight for me. I have met several other CruiseMates at dinners and lunches around New Hampshire. I look forward to meeting more now that I am in Florida. CruiseMates, Thanks for being here you are AWESOME!!!

Ok guys and gals,

Now what am I'm going to tell my boss when he comes back from lunch and my eyes are red from crying because I read all your beautiful and concerned posts. I can't tell him I was on the Internet in a Chat Room, now can I?

I also remember showing my mother all the posts of prayers for her when she was dying of cancer. She was tremendously touched by all the prayers coming her way from cruisemates whom she never knew nor would ever know.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Linda.

Regards,
Thomas

Trip..."we" know that though these are just Internet message boards, they ended up being so much more than that.

I've been SO fortunate to have met literally HUNDREDS of people from the boards over the years, and so many have become wonderful friends. We would have all never "found" each other otherwise, and that makes it very special.

I remember very well when all of you dragged your way across the continent to celebrate with us, and it was tremendously special to us!!

We're keeping our fingers crossed that next summer there'll be a wedding to give you all reason to once again stand by the side of the highway, thumbs extended, holding signs .. Alberta Bound.

Memories are great. We can go back and revisit those events again and again.
