Default "Pay It Forward" Makes a Dad Beam With Pride

my daughter-in-law forwarded to me an e-mail of an article in the florida paper along with a video clip of my son who established a scholarship to Space Camp in Huntsville Alabama for a student who had to write an essay about aviation..the really cool thing is that he funded this scholarship from being paid for a published article that he wrote for the National Space and Aviation Magazine about his experience at the Air Force Test Pilot's school at Edwards AFB in California..The first award winner was a young man who's Dad is on active duty in the army in Afghanistan

How wonderful! Yep, I would be beaming, too! Thank you for sharing with us. I believe he must take after his father. You did a fine job in raising your son and I know you are very proud.

his mother is beaming more than I am (which says something)...he clearly learned the lesson we both taught him about "opening doors for others, as others have open the door for him"

I really like his twist on that lesson "pay if forward"...I will make a "small contribution" to help fund a 2nd scholarship for next summer...one of the best investments I ever made was to send him to the very first Space Camp

Growing up I made a point of having him meet many of the original Tuskegee Airmen, so he could understand the sacrifices they made so that he could have the opportunity to fly

He really is my hero and I just wished my Dad could have lived long enough to see how his grandson has turned out

Venice:

That is wonderful. You and everyone else should be proud of your son. He not only "Paid it Forward" but he is allowing others to fulfill their dreams.

Take care,
Mike

Default Pay it Forward

If any of us ever have anything that we can truly be proud of it is our children and how we teach them. Most children follow in their parents footsteps and these days, it seems that we see a lot of need for parenting of young children. I just hope children like your son, continue to follow the childraising principals our parents and grandparents started in raising their children.

You (and your wife) did good!
