michael, tell your son congrats and best wishes. it sounds like he took his time so he would find the right one.
its the really early morning so i have no idea how the weather is yet but if its anything like yesterday then it will be a nice sunny day but hopefully not quite as hot.
hope everyone has a great sunday! 8)
Good morning from sunny swfl...we are back at home and I am dealing with one ear that has way too much wax in it. It's closed now and it drives me crazy. I started the wax removal treatment yesterday but so far its not much better. It started before I left for our little trip and I was careful not to get water in it. Oh well.
Today we are skipping church <yeah we are slackers > and will be doing nothing. Maybe go to the movies but thats it.
I have a very busy schedule coming up next week thanks to my md!
Have a wonderful day mates! Congrats on the wedding Michael for your son!
Good Sunday Morning all CM's
We are home from our short vacation.
We celebrated out wedding anniversary by going to Orlando.
We went to Disney World, Cirque Du Soleil, Univeral park, Blue Man Group, a wonderful dinner at a faboulus steak house,Charlie's. and a relaxing 4 days. We would have gone to Sea World but the thunder storms were to terrible. Florida is the lightning capital you know.
Tomorrow we fly out to New Mexico to visit Earl's daughter and help her move to a new apartment. She lives in the mountains of Taos,N.M where the night time temps are in the 50*.
Sure will be a change from the heat here in Florida.
See you all when we get back
Morning All, from a gorgeous sunshiney day in Montreal. It's been a roller-coaster kind of summer, but finally, it feels like July today!
Yesterday was for me, a Harry Potter marathon. I read all day, and even until 1 a.m. but with all the interruptions and errands, and whatever in between, I still have not finished! My goal for today is to finish it, but I also have lots of other stuff to do, so we will see....
Michael, congratulations to your son!
Sue, you skipped church?!! Horrors!
Carole, sounds like a great mini-vacation and lots of fun! Congrats on your wedding anniversary!
It's a wonderful Day here in Prospect Connecticut! The wind are blowing at around 1-5 Knots, not much, today I must finish my case file and I still have 10 pages to go though! I doubt I will be reading HP7 today....
Congrats to your son and new DIL, mehawk! Good afternoon, CMs! I'm sitting here on my WNC front porch typing this and enjoying the beautiful weather....birds singing and cicadas doing their thing...lol.
Yesterday I drove over to the Cherokee Indian reservation (about 30 minutes away) for the 3rd annual "Festival of Native Peoples". There were several tribes represented....Pole Flyers from Mexico where 5 men climb a 100 ft pole, tying ropes around their waists, and slowly unwind as they descend the pole honoring the sun....awesome! Also, there were Apache Crown dancers and a storyteller from Mesa, Arizona; Alaskan natives with their fun-filled mask dancers (Ravens, Eagles, Killer Whales); a Creek/Euchee Stomp Dance Group; and a Cherokee Warrior dance group called AniKituhwa.
I remember when several years ago that the vote was put before the people on whether to have a casino or not....the young wanted it but many elders didn't....it ended up being passed. I have to say, the Cherokee are doing the right things with the money. Education has improved (ALL schools are teaching their language and it is a requirement to learn it), ALL children have received a new computer, and many native owned businesses are popping up on the reservation. There is a wind of change coming to the reservation where there will no longer be the stereotype of the Plains Indian but where the proud Cherokee will embrace their own culture and represent only theirs....in other words, eventually the "street chiefs" (their own words, btw) and the tipis (which no Cherokee has ever lived in) will be a thing of the old Cherokee tourist town. I can't wait for the change and I'm sure they are excited about it too.....
