Default New TV Season - Which Show Can't You Wait to see again?

Though a few shows began last week, tonight all the networks kick off their new seasons, with a few shows starting later of course...

What show can't you wait for? Any cliff hangers that kept you guessing all summer?

Those are the main ones. There are a number of other shows I watch but they aren't real story lines.

Take care,

I will have to agree that there is less and less each year that catches my attention. FOr the most part I watch the season premiers and finales and stick to travel channel, discovery channel and HGTV to fill the voids - with the following exceptions: Grey's Anatomy, Survivor and Sopranos are the only series that kept me watching from week to week.

I too agree that there is less and less to look forward to on t.v. I don't even know if it'll be on next season or not, but NCIS is the only one that I really enjoyed in the past. If it's on next season, I'll probably watch it.

Hmm, I kind of feel the opposite - I thought there were more shows I wanted to watch than I had time for.

I watch and recrod if I can't see them:
CSI
24
Desp. Housewives
Brothers and Sisters
Boston Legal
Lost
The Office
Dancing With the Stars
First few eipsodes of American Idol - all the goofy people are funny.
Looking forward to The Bionic Woman

I wish I had time to watch:
30 Rock
Jericho
Battlestart Galactica
New Dr. Who
House
Dirty Jobs
What not to Wear
Extreme Home Makeover

LOST

I had lost interest in it for a while, but it got pretty good again halfway through last season and the only bad part is that it won't be back till February.

Like the CSI programs and law and order CI and SVU

For those looking forward to BSG, I thought it wasn't back till Feb 2008?

Or am I getting confused with "Stargate Atlantis"?

Not looking forward to much, not much out there, but I am impatiently waiting till Feb. for LOST to come back - now that's worth waiting for!

Meanwhile, I will have to make do with the 5th season return of Corner Gas, a great Canadian comedy, which I've heard has been picked up by US networks. Keep an eye out for that one!

Baseball playoffs and World Series.

Other that that, it will be downstairs to the home theater and the DVD player, or off to the movies, or off to see a play. Episodic TV of all stripes has gone from bad to really horrible as they've cut production budgets drastically over the last few years. With so many advertising dollars migrating from broadcast to online, it will be very interesting to see what becomes of network television in the intermediate term. It can't be good.

I did have an early warning about how bad this new season is. One of our kids is in the advertising business in New York and he was invited to all four of the network "rollout" parties a couple months ago. His advice after seeing the previews: run, don't walk. He said that even he was stunned at how even the most delusional network executives could possibly think most of the new stuff could last beyond three weeks.

Like maybe Caveman? Three weeks would be waaaaaaaay too long for that one!

Penn & Teller - BullSh*t!

They are cynics after my own heart. They even torpedoed Mother Theresa and the **edited** Dalai Lama....

(Sorry, I'm getting a bit carried away by their liberal use of expletives)...

I like many of the reality shows but the one I'll be watching faithfully is, Kid Nation. It is so refreshing to watch 40 (now 39) kids from 8-15 yrs old actually run a town for 40 days completely on their own. Some are cooks, laborers, merchants, or upper class and all are governed by a 4 kid, leader board. Major decisions are made by a majority vote and it was very mature to see them vote out a reward challenge of a TV in favor of 7 more port-a-johns. One 8 yr old decided it was too much for him and he wanted to return to the shelter of his home (sweet, little "Jimmie") so he chose to leave. Anyone is free to go back home, and is given that option at the town meetings which are held at the end of each show. Also weekly, some deserving individual is awarded the "Gold Star" for outstanding service or accomplishments which equals $20,000 to take home with them. What I like about this reality show, unlike others, is that these kids aren't always plotting against each other, or back-stabbing one another, setting one another up with dirty, little schemes....all behaviors that because of their young ages, they haven't yet learned by being in the adult world. It's a nice change from the norm.

Our Eagles can wear any color uniforms they want as long as they play like that. Donavan had only the 5th perfect quarterback rating ever in the NFL.

I was watching the game with some friends, and they were all saying that they have to wear those uniforms all season. I said I might have to go buy one, and one guy said "Don't get carried away now!". I responded "I never said I was gonna wear it, just buy it for good luck." I'll wear it as a coverup at the pool - it's almost tropical looking.

I can believe it was the same team on Sunday that played those 2 horrible games earlier. Curtis is my new favorite player. ha ha

Hey, could somebody explain something to me?. . .

I was surfing around between innings of the ballgame last night and came upon what I assume to be "Dancing With the Stars." I assume this because it was a couple dancing.

Now, I was involved in editing film and videotape for my whole career, so I know a mismatched cut when I see it. And in the 20 or 30 seconds I watched this show, I saw two cuts in the middle of a dance sequence that plainly didn't match. Which means, in this day and age, that the sequence was compiled from two or more separate takes, or that chunks of the performance were cut out and they stitched the other pieces back together as best they could.

So as I switched back to the ballgame, I got to wondering how a show that is supposed to be a "competition" could be made up of performances that were not straight "live-to-tape" recordings, but instead were so heavily post-produced.

Very strange. Maybe they'll start cutting the mistakes out of the Olympics next year, too.
