Default My Price Was Cut

I just saw that my 11/29 Journey, South America cruise has been drastically cut in price. I got on the phone with my T/A who does a number of the Cruisemates cruises and she was able to get the new fare. She did and our price was reduced by $600 per person.

That is NICE!!!!!!!

If you are on this cruise, I suggest you do the same. The price cuts are across the board.

Take care,
Mike

Wow, Mike! Sweet! I haven't been so lucky with any of my cruises, to see such a drastic (or any) drop in fare!

GREAT deal Mike. I had been seeing emails with all kinds of specials for Azamara. Of course had no idea what you booked for.

The big price drop is not only nice because of the savings... but indicates you have a less than full ship, so service etc. should be outstanding.

That's fantastic news Mike.

Now how do you go about checking the price? Do you go on the cruise web site, and pull up the room rate on a regular basis? I've never done that. Sure hope my TA does. :-)

Phyll:

I knew the price would go down after final payment because there were still a number of available cabins, I just didn't think it would go down that much.

I checked Celebrity.com and saw they dropped the price and that's when I called Nancy. Celebrity is pretty good about honoring price reductions "after" final payment. If it would have been a Carnival corporation cruise I would have been lucky to get a $50 onboard credit.

The reality is that it is really up to the customer to really watch the bookings. The agents are busy booking and can't really keep track of all fares and reductions so IT REALLY PAYS to watch. It is also crucial to have a TA who will make the calls needed in order to get that reduction. There are a number of agents who would just tell you "It's for new bookings only." and many people would accept it. If they get you the lower price they also receive less commission. They do more work and receive less money. Then again, they probably will gain a repeat customer. I know that if an agent didn't make the call I wouldn't use them again.

The reductions we have received on this cruise almost paid for our airfare.

BTW: The savings were $700 not the $600 I originally stated.

Take care,
Mike

Hey Mike ... way to go for you and Betty. $1,400 is not too shabby - and great (and typical) that Nancy B. could be sure you got it.
