We are going to sail Seven Seas Navigator Greek Island cruise between Athens and Istanbul and then fly from Istanbul to Copenhagen for Seven Seas Voyager Baltic cruise including three days in St Petersburg. It doesn't pay to fly to Europe for a seven day cruise; however, this back to back is going to require us to change cabins.

Istanbul is one of my favorite cities in the whole wide world..if you will be there for a few days pre cruise, make sure you visit a Turkish Bath House and travel out of the city to visit the ruins...there is also a huge US Air Force base there
did your friends decide to go on that jazz cruise in March of 08 ?
Slightly off topic but I was so surprised to read this on Marc's post...
"When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable."
Over 20 years ago, I took a Nature Photography Class in Western North Carolina that was taught by Clifton Fadiman's son, Kim. What an interesting and talented man! At the time, I drove a van and Kim loved being able to climb on the roof for what he called a "vantage point for a wonderful capture of the subject". Of course, I had a hard time explaining to my x how the roof was slightly dimpled....lol. Thanks Marc for posting that particular comment, brought back some nice memories of Kim.
