Thanks Trip. I enjoyed the article very much!!

With the HUGE initiative NCL announced today, regarding increased food budgets, and wider sweeping amenities for passengers, and a new repeater program, etc. I think NCL may well be the most imaginative and innovative cruise line in the industry today.

Trip,

I for one was dissapointed in the article. It really read like someone in NCL's Ad dept wrote it. And not like a person cruising.

I understand from your other posts about the Gem that you enjoyed your short cruise and really felt that those posts were more what I expect from someone just returned from a cruise.

Trip the Gem looks to be my kind of stone! I will have to look into that one.

Nancy, this cruise was for travel, agents and the press. On this short cruise I was fortunate to be invited onboard to view, and report on NCL's newest ship.

So, while enjoying all the ammenities the Gem had to offer, I was a fact finder and photographer, trying to cull as much information as I could, to give Cruisemates an overview of this new ship, I hope I did that:)

Nancy,

You have to keep in mind this was a 2 day "sneak a peak" sailing. It's difficult to see and experience everything on a ship on a full 7 day cruise, yet alone to get to it all in 2 days, and try and share it as a cruise experience. I think Trip did a great job of telling us about the ship.

No doubt somewhere down the line someone from CruiseMates will return to the Gem for a full cruise and write a full report.

Trip: I think you hit the nail on the head with your article. I recently sailed on NCL Pearl and can attest to your assessment of this class ship.
Being an avid RCCL fan, I was pleasantly surprised with Pearl. I enjoyed "freestyle cruising" very much and was very impressed with the ship. Great job!

Look for NCL to debut the F3 series, a new generation of ships, in 2010.
anyone know what the F3 series is? Is it even larger ship for NCL?

I realize this was a "sneak a peak" but the article still sounded as though written by NCL as there was no personalization, Just a couple of "I found or we found" would make it more than "Just the Facts". I didn't expect Linda to be able to experience everything though it sounds as if she did get to see everything, with the full descriptions of the different types of villas that the majority of people will never see.

Linda did point out in one of her posts prior to the article that she ate dinner where NCL told her, so that alone tells you it was special trip for the TA's and the press.

The photos were very nice and I'm sure not many TA"s or press would include the ones of the snow on the pool deck.

At the press conference, very little was said about this, as it is, hush hush
as you would imagine it has to be. BUT what, they did say, was, they would be taking Freestyle Cruising to another level. Think, deconstructing entertainment. Boy, how they tease us:)

Interesting name though "F3 Series". 8)
