Default Photo opinions please - finished photo

I want to make an 8x10 photo of one of the sunsets in my gallery for a gift for someone and I am having a hard time choosing one. I will have it matted and framed. Which one (or two) would you choose of the ones I have numbers 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05. Be honest, but not too cruel to me Thanks. Vicki

All the pictures are beautiful. My preference would be No. 5. Take into consideration the room that the picture may be hung, and think about the shades that would compliment it. What a thoughtful gift!

I like them all but I love #5. That would be my choice.

I'm sorry cause I'm going off list on you. I love this picture the best. There is something so beautiful about the father and son in this picture. It's funny cause I don't know if it's a father and son but from my point of view it is and that is what I like about it.

I have to go with #4 but I think they are all lovely. I also love the pier reflections. It reminds me of Meredith NH town docks.

You ask an impossible question. I think they are all glorious!
I do think a consideration of the room of whom you give it too would come into consideration. I'm sure whoever is getting it will love to have any one of them! That is kind of you to give them such a thoughtful present.

Thanks to all. I just couldn't make my mind up. This gift will be for a man that I have worked with in our real estate office for the last 19 years. He is retiring. I don't even know if he will like this, but at least when he looks at it he will have to remember ME. I'm kind of drawn toward #5. I like the pier reflection, but that one has been cropped to cut out some background scenery and I don't know how it will look in an 8x10. I have about 40 pix we took that day and have narrowed it down to these few. Keep the opinions coming, I won't make the final decision for a day or so. Also, matte or glossy finish????????

Difficult choices. They are all beautiful. I have to say the one Pat (Mgram) picked is absolutely my favorite too.

Matte Finish all the way.

Well, personal opinions, but I never liked a gloss finish as ou see the gloss and it detracts from the picture, however gloss finish does do better when it comes to finger prints............

I agree with Kat. But of your choices I like #5.

When you have your print made, you might want to consider a giclee print made on artist's canvas. Some cruise ship photographers offer these at outrageous prices (you've probably seen them), but you can get them on the open market in any size you want at very reasonable prices. Best of all, you can do it all online by just forwarding your file and your credit card number. They come all stretched on stretcher strips and ready to go.

I've had good luck with an outfit in Texas called finerworks.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to go with #5 as most of the opinions were for this one. AR, I checked out the site you mentioned and ended up ordering a canvas from them. I will see how I like it when it comes in. The prices are not to bad, of course by the time I have it framed it will be considerably more, but I think it will look great. Hopefully so will the retiree. Katlady, the shadows on the beach were of a father, mother and child and I honestly didn't even notice them there until later. Mgram, I also like the photo you did, but was afraid of all the orange in it. I think I will order 8x10's of some of the other prints (in matte finish) also. They will always come in handy framed for a quick gift. Thanks again. I might use you all for photo opinions every once in a while, you have been great. Thanks, Vicki

If any if you have experience with a digital slr camera let me know. I'm thinking about getting one.

Here is the finished photo. The photo I took of the picture framed does not even do it justice. I had the photo put on canvas, that is why is looks the way it does in the picture. It turned out very good and I was happy with it. Thanks to all of you for your opinions. I have a new digital slr camera ordered, so get ready for some photos.

Looks like it worked out very well. What size did you wind up with, and when do you give it to your friend?

I had an 8x10 made. We had the retirement luncheon yesterday and he really liked the gift. It turned out very good on the canvas, though the picture doesn't look that way. Thank you all for helping me with this. I may ask your opinions again one day. Thanks. Vicki
