Tonight Wednesday is predicted to be the coldest nite of the last 5 years. The prediction is 28 in the Orlando Area.
We covered a few Crotons in our front yard hoping to save as many as we can. We have hundreds more in the back yard so we hope the prediction will be wrong.

Ray,
If the breeze continues that should help the crotons....I think the breeze keeps the frost from settling on the plants? We brought in all our potted plants last night and have decided to let mother nature decide which plants make it and which don't. Some of our crotons at the front of the house are 8+ feet tall and kind of hard to cover.
Hayley called to say her heat in her condo is broken...going to be 22 in Jax tonight where she is. Her boyfriend and a friend of his with a/c, heat experience are looking at it and if they can't fix it they can spend the night at his parents house. Brrrr.....
Channel 6 was saying that there's a possiblitly of snow flurries at the beach early tomorrow morning!
Angela Z.
Not expected to be any better here on the east coast of Va. Low's around 23-25 tonight,,,,we actually had bay effect snow fluries earlier this afternoon.
Sure hope the orange crop in Fla. comes out ok. Ray sure hope all your plants don't freeze. I brought all the one's I can carry in tonight. Covered up some of the others.
Since I have not had a chance to "landscape" my patio I only have one plant and it is safely inside. A couple of nights of cold weather is ok with me. Much better than months on end of cold and bitter cold weather.
Laura

It is in the middle teens with wind chill below zero here in Philly. I am really trying to sympathize with you Floridians .
How about that global warming? <-----I work for EPA and the true believers here would have me greenhouse gassed

Seems like we are all in a cold snap. It is seven below zero here. The high today is 8 degrees, so there will be no relief. Hopefully it won't become too breezy, the windchill makes it just unbearable. I probably should have plugged in my jeep last night. I hope it starts when I head out to work.
Sorry you all are having low temps too. I know it is much more challenging for you in many ways. I hope everyones plants make it thru. It is so sad to loose a lovely piece of your landscape.

Thanks, Captain! They're beautiful! Look like they'd grow best in a tropical climate.
Well, I know what croutons are, I know what couscous is, and I know what a caucus is. Now I know what crotons are. See? You learn something everyday on CruiseMates!
I wonder if they'd grow in California? Today, you'd have to take 'em in.
Wednesday night in Mobile Alabama (the sunny deep south - gulf coast are) was 16 with a single digit wind chill. Mobile Bay was frozen around the shoreline at the causeway Thursday morning. My 6year old Granddaughter wanted to go ice skating on the bay. Tomorrow, Saturday is supposed to be high 60s for our first Mardi Gras Parade (Dauphin Island). The people around Mobile have an old saying about our weather here - If you don't like the weather in Mobile, wait 30 minutes (it will change). I have seen Mobile with 90 degrees in January and 3 degrees in March - same year. Gotta love it!

28 degrees sounds like a heatwave to me! You don't even want to know how cold it has been here! And I was going to ask what a Croton was, but Capt. answered my question. Learn something new every day!
