Anything over a SPF 30 is redundant. Sunblock is like a wooden door. No bugs come in but no breeze comes in either. Sunscreen is like a screen door, it lets the breeze in but keeps the bugs out. Yes, people still get sun with sunblock as it wears off. The problem is that it is so strong and effective that any little spot you miss will burn while the rest stays pasty white. So better to put on sunscreen often and evenly to assure a safe healthy tan. Don't forget, it is always good to have a tanning partner to help you get the hard to reach places.

It is also important to have someone to apply your Aloe lotion chilled after a warm shower to replenish the skin and heal the sunburn into a tan.

This was my Panama Jack office at the St Pete Beach Hilton from which I conducted my tanning consultations. This photo was just after I held the belly flop contest for the kids and was giving out prizes of sample size bottle of tanning lotion. This was around 1988.

what to you think about the spray on sunscreens? I have this one it's easy to apply. But is it was good as the regular sun screens?

I don't like this one. Although the active ingredients are effective, the problem is with the application. It is alcohol based, flammable (don't have a cig in your mouth while spraying it!) and when it is windy, most of it is "Gone with the Wind". Also it is hard to get it on evenly resluting in an uneven blotchy look. Lotions are better because you can see where you get it, it moisturizes, there is less waste and most importantly, it is more fun!
