Default This Old House in NOLA

Just watched the newest This Old House project, taking place in the Lower 9th Ward neighborhood of New Orleans.

The Lower 9th Ward seems an odd mixture of devestated houses, piles of debris where houses once stood, and brand new homes all right next to each other.

The crew is helping a young lady restore and enlarge her old Shotgun house that she's owned for many years.

Also, it was really interesting to see the new Musician's Village that Harry Connick Jr. and friends are building in the Lower 9th Ward.

It was a great first episode, and the remaining 9 episodes should be as well.

I'm not a big fan of Bob Vila anymore, but this one sounds like it'll be well worth watching. Like Melody said, give us the schedule of broadcasts!

Thanks,

Ken

OK Guys,

I'm not sure when This Old House airs in you particular areas, but you can find its schedule at pbs.org. Here in the Portland area, it airs Saturdays at 5:30pm.

Haven't seen HGTV, but I can tell you that This Old House has the premier crew in old home renovations. And no, Bob Villa isn't host any longer. Kevin O'Connor is, and he's a lively and likable host, whom you'll enjoy.

Lots to do there.

I have loved this show for years...do you remember the one where the homeowners and the crew, came to a parting of the ways, and they would
not be on camera. It was a local home, and boy the bees were buzzin!

I also loved the series in Fla, when they restored an old home, that had hurricane damage.

I found the shows, and marked them for my dvr to pick up, I can't wait to see them.

Watched it...it reflects the lower 9th pretty well..you are correct Mean Dean, the lower 9th is a mixture which reflects the challenges of trying to bring back the lower 9th

Brad Pitt's foundation almost have enough money to pay for the 150 homes he wants to build..they want it all in the bank before they start construction which I think is a good idea

still so much work to be done

Yep! And I think I had for everyone on the board! Had to pour myself into bed! Plus when I got up the next day, I had to make sure I had REALLY cleaned the house! Luckily, all was done!

Jen,

This Old House airs on PBS. Go to www.pbs.org, and you should find the TV schedule.

As for a Shotgun house, it's a long, narrow house, that if you fired a shotgun through the front door, it would go all the way out the back door without hitting anything in between!

Dean

ps, Can someone help me with inserting links in my posts? Everytime I try it, I get the same thing as above!

Dean: you just needed to put the "www." in front of the pbs.org
