I have to admit that there are more annoying commercials than good ones, but a good funny commercial can make my day. My current fave is the Jeep Liberty one where all the animals hop in through the sunroof and sing along with the radio. My DH says he doesn't care how much I love it, he's not buying me one! Just call him Scrooge!
A long-time fave is the Geico one where the squirrels deliberately send the guy off the road. Given the wiliness of the ones I feud over the bird feeders with, I find that commercial totally believable
One of my longtime faves returns every year at Back-to-School time.
It's for Bureau en Gros (Staples everywhere else) and depicts parents skipping down the aisle of back-to-school supples, while their children drudge behind them, to the tune of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"!
Currently the Dominoes Pizza commercial is a favorite of mine. A man dressed in red pajamas obviously with love on his mind says. "Dominoes says it will be here in 30 minutes" The wife looks at him and says "What will we do with the other 28 minutes?"
I also like the caveman commercials.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
Love the car rental company (Hertz or Avis?) where the guy's own car is in the parking lot at the airport, accusing him of having an affair with "that hot red Cadillac" in another city, pretending to be "on business". A chunk of ice falls off the front of the car and it's almost like it's crying. Pretty clever.
I had forgotten about this commercial. Monster.com is running one with a song in the background that I learnt as a school boy in elementary school in 1960. It is called the Happy Wanderer. I was discussing that song about four months ago. and now here it is. It came out for the super bowl. It is the one where the fellow with the big legs is turning the earth with his bicycle machine.
Please, some of the older friends tell me that they remember this song? It really brings a large, joyful smile to my face and I can still sing th ewords to this day.
It is being played on youtube and other video sites.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Courage and perserverance have a magical talisman; before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into the air.
Pick your company wisely! Hang around people who are going to help you become all God created you to be.
Thanks for that video KatLady, I've always loved that one, too. My DD teaches 7th grade and we've always said it's like "herding cats." At choir practice last night I asked about "The Happy Wanderer" and someone said they thought they remembered Mario Lanza singing it in a movie. Anyone else remember this?
