Default Bar Set Up?

This was a quote from a different thread. My question is can you pay Carnival to set up a bar for you in your cabin? I think I have heard about this somewhere else, that you call Carnival and pay them in advance for bottles of liquor to be in your cabin for in cabin use. If that is true it isn't something widely know I know do this if possible. That way while in our cabin we can have a drink without calling room service or trying to find the bar. I'm not talking about wine or beer.
"Paul, I agree with you to a point when it comes to being compassionate for people who may have to scratch and save to go on a cruise.
My point stops at smuggling booze.
If a person cannot afford the extra 50 dollars a bar set up will cost over the liquor store price (4 bottles of name brand liquor), then maybe booze shouldn't receive such a priority. Probably shouldn't be purchased in the first place.

Just my opinion"

I always bring aboard a few bottles of wine, and I always buy a welcome aboard package that include wine. I see nothing wrong with having
wine in your room.

I don't drink wine or beer, just hard liquor. So I'm wondering aside from smuggling booze on to the ship, is there away to order bottles of liquor from Carnvial? Like Rum, Bourbon, and Vodka.

I have never cruised Carnival but I am sure you can get a bar set up.

NCL and HAL...no problem: 124.50 for two bottles of Cuervo Gold and two bottles of Smirnoff Red.

Hmmm...maybe not. I just read Carnival's Liquor and Beverage policy and there is no mention of being able to have bottles delivered to your cabin. They DO mention that have instituted a policy to "control consumption and behavior" but I'll bet they'll keep serving as long as keep paying.
In HAL's documents..it is mentioned there that room service will provide reduced rate liquor.

If Carnival does NOT offer bar set ups for purchase then I take back all my anti-smuggling posts...at least as far as Carnival goes.

From HAL's site:
"Bringing Alcoholic Beverages Onboard

Except for wine and champagne, alcoholic beverages purchased in the vessel's shops or otherwise brought on the ship cannot be consumed on the ship. Bottles and other containers will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the voyage.

A corkage fee of US$15.00 applies to wine and champagne brought to the restaurants or bars for consumption.

Room Service offers reduced-price stateroom beverage packages for in-stateroom consumption of alcoholic beverages. "

Do you have a TA you can call to ask about a bar set up?

What are you looking for besides the mini fridge.. which comes stocked with .. well.. my rum .. The little bottles make 2 drinks for me so it works well. And it's cheaper because there's no 15% gratuity. And then of course, you could just buy the mix and 'smuggle' which I would never ever never reccommend (I think there's a whole thread on that)

NCL and HAL charged the gratuity when the booze in the mini fridge was restocked.

There wasn't anything rum in my mini fridge. Kuki we need you or Nancy. I booked the 3CCCs cruise that leaves in April. It's a 14 day cruise I need full bottles of booze. I'm asking only on the non smuggling side.

When we were on the Carnival Freedom and Conquest recently, their mini fridges had alcohol in them.

Those airplane size bottles are a huge waste of money.
The mixers come in handly, though.

That is fact. I used it to keep my champange chilled and used the soada as necessary.

Well you people are no help at all!!! Good thing I know how to skip trace. Yes, Carnival does a bar set up through the Bon Voyage Department. Maybe if they included the ability to buy the bar set up directly from the website more people would know about it. Less people would smuggle booze not that I would do that sort of thing. Carnival does have a message board and someone else wanted to know about it too. http://www.carnivalconnections.com/c...344/49639.aspx

All it takes is a phone call.

I will leave that up to the expert my hubby. I'm guessing vodka will be on the list. Also price is a factor. If you have ship board credit can you use it on tips or before you board the ship?

Kat you can prepay your gratuities if you would like. I don't know whether you do it on Carnival's site or through your TA, but I know it can be done.

You can use it for any onboard expenses.. drinks you order by the pool, or in a lounge, etc. , dinner in the supper club if you go there, etc., but I don't think you can use it for purchases from the Bon Voyage Dept.

If you mean the daily service charge...that is added to your on board account.
The only "fee" you pay with the bar set up is 3 bucks.

We paid it in advance on both HAL and NCL.

On HAL there are a few bottle packages available on the room service menu. 15% gratuity when you order one of those.

If you go with Vodka...try the Zipp Fizz.

I figured you would say that but hey I took a shot. I want to hit the supper club. I'm sure I will have no trouble using my ship board credit. I don't want to per pay tips, just in case. However, I have never had any reason to reduce tips on cruises and every reason to increase them. I will do and you can see I'm fast asleep in bed. No blue pills today I forgot and now it's to late.
