Daylight Saving Time
Remember that Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend.
So remember to jump out of bed at 2am on Sunday and set all your clocks ahead! Dean |
Bummer isn't it I should find out which politician changed that the daylight savings time starting last year. :x Okay it's the Energy Policy Act of 2005. There it is H.R. 6 introduced Apr 18, 2005 109th session of congress signed into law on Aug 8, 2005 that is fast for a bill. How let's see who the author is.
Joe Barton from Texas http://www.govtrack.us/data/photos/400018-100px.jpeg This guy is the reason Daylight savings time is starting so early and ending so late. He is the reason I have to wake up an hour earlier!!!!! |
A couple of thoughts........
First, why do we even bother with Standard Time? I mean, we have for what, 4 months of the year? I've never really understood this shifting of time. So my lights are off for an extra hour in the evening -- but they're on for an extra hour in the morning. Don't see any energy savings on my electric bill with this system.......... Dean |
Irish, we do not see the use of it either, but I like the long days in the summer.
We do not change time till the end of the month. |
Actually, William Willett, invented it in England in 1905. It wasn't used though, until Germany used it in 1916. It was established in the USA in 1918 and repealed in 1919. In 1966, it became permanent in the USA.

All these meddling busybodies should be "Lost" on an island somewhere.
Progress = Humbug. |
I am sorry, but I fail to see the angst and hand wringing over this trivial matter. :-?
|
I just changed my watch to Eastern time, and now I have to change it again. I am so confused. LOL
|
I'd rather FALL back in bed for a hour!
Melody |
just need to leave it year round and quit changing all the time!!
|
I for one, like going home from work when it's still light out, instead of pitch black!
speaking of changing clocks, I've got to get a new watch battery...mine died. donna |

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...njamin-LOC.jpg "Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise", Ben, anonymously published a letter suggesting that Parisians economize on candles by rising earlier to use morning sunlight. This 1784 satire proposed taxing shutters, rationing candles, and waking the public by ringing church bells and firing cannons at sunrise. So the whole thing started as a joke. |
I believe we did stay on DST one year; during the Nixon Era. It didn't go over because mothers of young children complained they were having to board the school busses in the dark...
For some reason I have more problems in the fall when I GAIN an hour's sleep than in the Spring, when I lose it! Go figure! :-? |
I'm all for daylight time, but I'm not sure I understnd the need to start it this early or to end it so late.
|
I almost booked my cruise this week instead of the next. Glad I didn't. I don't want to lose an hour on the ship! rofl
