Default Tampa Port Area

Hi, Friday I have the day off. We were planning to make a day of it and do the "tourist" thing for the day. We were thinking of going to Tampa over towards the port. Hoping to see a ship in the port. I have never been down that way. Can anyone suggest interesting things to do in the area?

Laura

The Florida Aquarium is right next to the port. It's small but nice to see.

You can also go to the Univeristy of Tampa and visit the Henry B. Plant Museum. It's only a short drive from the port. You could walk it but it is about 1 3/4 miles. It brings you through downtown Tampa.

Just to let you know... The parking structure has a new "system". Its a pain in the rump. You pay.. they hand you a coin.. then you can get in. On your way out, you put the coin (don't lose the thing) into a slot and the gate goes up. We were one of the first cars attempting to use it last month. They hadn't worked the kinks out yet. Hopefully by now they have.

Go to Bush Gardens. Incrediable animals and rides
Web site www.buschgardens.com/buschgardens_default.aspx
This is my favorite theme park. You can pay for one day and come back all year. We take our family when they come to town. Enjoy.
Also free beer!
there will not be any ships in port untill Saturday or Sunday.

Laura I don't think there will be any ships in port on Friday; however, there is a military ship museum in port that is pretty cool;
and as the others stated the Aquarium and I think there is also a 3D cinema at Channelside

You can also take the trolly train to Ybor City and see the shops and eat at the Spagetti Warehouse or the Columbia Restaurant. There is also Lowry Park Zoo.
