OK: This was a bad thing but one that could happen in many nightclub settings.
I have one question: The report said the victim had to stay onboard for seven more days. Wasn't this a seven day cruise? If the Carnival Vacation Satisfaction Guarantee doesn't cover having your head beat in with a metal baton by another passenger I don't know what does.
There is more to this story than is presented.

I don't think there is anything else to the story. But that is because I have seen people that were crazy and that cause me to be afraid of them. This guy was waiting for this family in his crazed mind it was something from his past he was beating. I hope this guy goes to jail. He is a threat to the public.

I guess they don't call it "Conquest" for nothing.
There isn't necessarily anything much more to it, except it is odd that he couldn't (or wouldn't) get off.
The story isn't one-sided in the slightest, unless you're hyper-sensitive about anything unpleasant that is reported about cruising. The guy probably really did say that he'd never cruise again. It isn't up to the reporter to explain to him why he should, or explain to readers that the same thing could happen on land. Anyway, maybe the victim already knows that. Maybe he just feels he'd be uncomfortable on a ship in the future because of the "bad memories" thing. It happens. Nobody's telling anybody else not to cruise.
It's a very Joe Friday kind of story. No big deal.
