Default You won't believe what we saw on the table!

We just got off the Monarch of the Seas this morning and on the way out of the terminal was the table with everything that was confiscated last Friday. If we hadn't seen it we wouldn't believe it. We saw a couple of travel irons, an old style 4 cup perculating coffee pot, a toy pistol which turned out to be a laser, large tree root sling shots, 2 large whips, and the most unusual...a tricycle! I think the toy pistol, sling shots and whips were souvenirs from Disneyland from people who were vacationing before their cruise but a tricycle? What have you seen?

Whips, chains, candles, irons, booze, etc is probably pretty normal---but a tricycle ? What would someone be thinking about--letting Jr. ride around the deck on his trike ??

The trike must have been in pieces when taken aboard.

I once saw a dolly with a chair being wheeled on, and, from my vantage point, what seemed to be a large dehumidifier.

I have never seen a table with confiscated items on it; which cruise lines actually do this. I have sailed on RCI (2002) and Costa (1993) and never noticed this. What do they do when the cruise ends at a different port?

Michael, the tricycle was taken away before being taken on board.

Marc, this was on RCI out of San Pedro, CA. We have never seen one before either but I guess if you bring something not allowed, they confiscate it, then they must provide a way to return it to you at the end of the cruise. You bring up a great point. Maybe they store the items on board and bring them out on the other end.

I have gone to that table on a couple of occassions to retrieve my tiny swiss army knife. I have been amazed at the sight, hatchets, diving knives, small clubs like were used on Nancy Kerrigan, large knives, brass knuckles, firecrackers, fireworks, mace.

I now put my little knife in my checked bags, if at all. I have never seens whips, but am not suprised.

if they confiscate it from you, would they keep an ID of you in case you want to get it back later? seems like it's just a table with all the confiscated items

Everything is logged in and you are given a receipt to use when you return. Everything was tagged with the person's name, cruise date and cabin number. I wonder how many forget to retrieve their item(s) and what the cruiseline does with them once everyone has left.

When we were boarding a NCL ship in Hawaii they confiscated my DW's swiss army knife that was in her suitcase. She got it back at the end of the cruise.
